I really think all of this is setup to pressure Houston. ORL is beginning to get desperate. If they planned to have D12 hang around until the trade deadline, I would think they would have him play at his camp. That would help him begin to work toward repairing his reputation on temporary basis.

Let him go to LA. Kobe and Nash may have 1-2 championship runs in them, but I don't think they have much more.

They could get then Gasol for Lamb + Raptors pick + another 1st pick, for example.

Mejia said on twitter that he has no knowledge of such deal and could just be leverage.

The Rockets aren't getting out of the first round with Pau. There's no need for him.

A truly bad deal for Orlando; Morey-esque.

Not too bad of a deal for all teams

There is no realistic package for Pau. We don't want/need Pau.

We would give up that much for Gasol? Unlikely.

This would be terrible for Orlando. Lakers probably get a little bit worse. Denver gets maybe a little bit better. And Philly comes out completely golden.
It'd almost be smarter for Orlando to just do a straight up Dwight for Bynum trade.

This is the worst bluff attempt yet. Where doez orlando get the draft picks?

I disagree with the lot of you, getting Gasol and trading him for other additional assets makes sense. Specially if Orlando can get picks, and young player's like Evan Turner and Wilson Chandler from Sixers and Nuggets. Not to mention they also get to take some salary off the books.

As others have noted, this one reeks of "hey Houston, we're gonna do this. I swear. I'm just about to do it. No really. Here I go ..."12:18pm*- 9 Aug 12

I wonder if Morey has given Orlando a take it or leave it deadline, like training camp.

That sums it up pretty accurately. This trade has 0% chance of happening. It's just more posturing.

Afflalo is a nice player, although maybe a tad overpaid.

But tell me, where does ORL shop Gasol to get a package better than what the Rockets offer?

And if you can produce a scenario, then if they can't get it with Dwight, even as a rentel, why do they get it for Gasol, who is at least 2 tiers below Howard as a player, and on a much more onerous contract?
