So they get to be the 5th seed instead of the 7th. Nice.

This is a damn joke. Why does Orlando do this. Our offer is clearly better.

    possibility

The young prospects everyone expects Orlando to want in exchange, could be coming from Philly who has a pretty young team. If this deal is more than a smoke screen, I could see it going down like this, give or take a few pieces and/or draft picks.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8v6rakb

    In written form:

    Lakers out: Bynum
    Lakers in: Howard

    Denver out: Affalo, Chandler
    Denver in: Igoudala

Philly out: Igoudala, Thaddeus Young, Jrue Holiday
    Philly in: Bynum

    Orlando out: Howard
Orlando in: Thaddeus Young, Affalo, Chandler, Jrue Holiday

    Why everyone might do this:

LA: Give up the second best center in the league to get the best center in the league. Take advantage of Orlando's desperate situation. This makes them more athletic inside and Howard's defensive presence inside helps to negate the fact that Steve Nash is too old to stay in front of most PG's nowadays.

Denver: Give up two slightly above mediocre swing men to get one very good, but not quite great swing man. Neither Affalo or Chandler will ever be as good as Iggy, but Iggy also isn't good enough to demand the ball. His all around game still fits with the way that Denver plays post Melo (which is fun to watch).

Philly: Give up some of their young core to roll the dice on a franchise big man. It's typically said that the team that gets the best player in a trade is the winner of that trade. While they're not landing Howard, Bynum is a much better individual player than any of the guys they are letting go of. Price seems a bit steep for them, but they've been trying to move Iggy and his contract for a while now. With the addition of Dorrell Wright, they're a little over-populated at small forward.

Orlando: Desperate to get something for Howard, and this gives them a few quality young vets, plus a couple young guys who have been in the league, but still have tons of potential. Thaddeus Young has flashed signs of being a special player, but hasn't ever received heavy minutes in Philly. Holiday is still very young, and has elite size and athletic ability for a point guard. He's made big strides the last few years.

If Orlando believes that these two young guys (who have actually shown evidence in NBA games, unlike Rockets rookies to be) have a bright future in the league, they just might be willing to take this package plus maybe a draft pick or other prospect overseas instead of the Rockets offer.

However, it doesn't get ride of any of their bad contracts, which would seem to be a priority.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for fun. Feel free to shoot it down if I missed something.

Dan Fegan got what he wanted like always. He most likely told Orlando to avoid houston and send his client to LA or " i will never have any of my players on this team ever again"
