We usually give our old clothes, furniture, and matresses, etc. to our yard crew. They are very appreciative. They can either usually use the stuff or at least sell it for extra cash.
Wait a couple months and offer them for sale to college students next semester (on craigslist or whatever). Then when they come to pay, give them the mattress for free...
then stop belaboring the point. J/K. My post was a joke anyway, and glad to know that there are still considerate ppl in this city
I'm leery of getting someone's used mattresses and fabric furnitures for the health aspect, not just some pee stains. That's one good way to get bed bugs and fleas. People need to invest in those terry cloth bed protectors.
perhaps the women's shelter on waugh takes them? otherwise, i agree with a cleaning crew or yard crew. i give a lot of my stuff away to our cleaning lady and she is extremely appreciative and has family she can pass it onto. either that, or i would drop it off at salvation army so as long as someone gets more use out of it than i would, that's fine.
Here in NYC, mattress companies buy used mattresses from dumpster divers for about $5 apiece. The mattress company then changes the mattress cover, and sells it as "reconditioned" for a fraction of the cost of a new mattress. I don't know if they have laws against selling reconditioned mattresses in Texas, but they do in some states.
