Jeremy never produced unfortunately. He became Linsanity in NY and had a game against the Spurs as a Hornet. I cannot recall a game in Rockets uniform that was electrifying like that.
Wow, you are really struggling here. How many times do facts have to b**** slap you in the face? Dmo is a mediocre player. There is a reason they tried to dump him at the deadline. If you don't want to accept the stats, the fact that they tried to trade him rather than give him a new contract, or that the coach won't play him, you are hopeless. You can keep trying to deflect all you want, but it doesn't make you any less wrong.
A man who thinks he's right all the time. Never admitting he was wrong always have some deep issues going on with them. You're acting as if this young man career is over. Like he can't go somewhere and become productive again. The man had one bad season out of 4 and now he's completely done. Smh again dude you were wrong for 3 years straight so own up.
Please. He has has his share of 20+ and 30+ point out GS as a Rocket including 38 against the Spurs in his first season as a Rocket.
Do you even know what I was wrong about? I disagreed with you at the time that they should trade him until someone performed well enough, was traded for, or signed that was better. That's it. The issue was always focused on Morey's faults to find an upgrade at PF rather than Jones, DMo, Casspi or whoever. But you two or three guys keep me pinned down all you want as the enemy you NEED penciled in to keep glorifying yourself as a special basketball guru. Because without someone who actually is making a case for Terrence, you don't have anyone to argue against to make yourself SEEM right. You certainly are special I'll give you that. Shame on me for even entertaining the thought that constructive dialog is possible with ego maniacs like yourself getting off to internet persona power as if that means something in life.
Nothing new for him. Been taking L's all the time. Least knowledgeable poster in the GARM and it's not even close.
That's where you were wrong. Your entire argument was based on your assessment of Jones as a player, and your assessment was wrong: For your convenience, I've underlined all the incorrect statements.
DMo is mediocre compared to Lamarcus Aldridge or somebody like that...but he's one of the more skilled players the Rockets currently have. It'd be lovely, just lovely, if he had a bigger role than somebody like Corey Brewer or Jason Terry. I'm not even a huge DMo fan, but it's pretty safe to say he's underutilized.
Good job completely modulating a post that I had, and taking it out of context... again to prove what point? The post you are referring to was when I was asked over and over to provide positive skills that Jones brings to the table. You want to take this out of context, go for it, but there is an entirety of a thought process that went into the conundrum that was Terrence Jones... and its much more thorough than simply stating his value as an NBA basketball player AT THE TIME. Go back and look up how I stated that IF we knew for sure that either- A. D-Mo was going to be healthy this season B. Harrell would come into the NBA ready to contribute in his rookie season or C. Smith would be resigned I would have been TOTALLY fine trading Jones for scraps. However I wasn't comfortable with our PF position. That's it. That argument was perverted for idiots like Hollic to prove a point, and I was asked to provide positives that a player like Jones provides, and reasons why he's been a member of the Houston Rockets for 3 years. Something folks around here couldn't grasp. And until this season he provided those values. HOWEVER.... and this is a point that trolls like yourself will NEVER even read or block out.... those skills or values SHOULD HAVE been acquired years ago at a HIGHER LEVEL with a BETTER PLAYER to put Jones back on the pine. Since you are so good at looking up my previous posts, go look up how many countless times I said that I would LOVE for an upgrade to be acquired or I would LOVE for a player like Harrell to prove me wrong and beat out Jones. I can't tell you how happy I am that Donatas is back playing, Smith is back for free essentially (although he's sucked it up, and fallen off a cliff), and Beasley has come out of literally China to prove capable. Alot of folks here said the likes of a Brandon Bass would have been an upgrade, and he was available (apparently). Folks like Carl Herrera thought that there were avenues to keep Patrick Patterson previously and still sign Dwight. Etc. etc. etc. You guys are trying to make me out to be an enemy on the board you can look smart typing against but you are missing the entire point that the person you really are angry with is Daryl Morey for not acquiring a player who could beat out Terrence Jones for two seasons. So give it the F-#$ up.
THANK YOU ! That is exactly what I have been trying to convey in a mountain of words, that you did so eloquently in so few. DD
Back to Donatas.... (knock on wood but...) I've been incredibly encouraged with how he's rounded back into form this last stretch of the season. Up to this point, its best case scenario for what I had hoped for. Yes he's still lacking some quickness on the defensive end to guard speedy 4's, and yes his post game hasn't settled in yet, but he's producing and holding his own on the floor. As a D-Mo fan I was never really concerned with him being the "X-Factor", the savior of the season, or whatever you want to call it. What i want is more long term, and I think providing what he's providing now in this stretch.... while not pretty, will lend to nice momentum going into the Summer. Again the Rockets have a fascinating and somewhat scary offseason. The Rockets could very well lose Dwight, and resign D-Mo. But they could also go in a completely different direction that nobody is suspecting.
Agreed, but I'd say its the Rockets offense and playing next to Howard that is degrading his role more than anything. I've said it many times that D-Mo at the 5 (while weak defensively & rebounding) is where he needs to be in order to maximize his offensive potential. At the 4 he's either clogging the paint with Dwight, or he's just moving the ball from side to side on the perimeter. That's just the way it is right now. Like I said above though, I'm not really concerned with him being the savior of this season now. Knowing that Dwight is likely gone and the Rockets having the ability to resign him this offseason is more intriguing to me as a D-Mo fan. Right now I just want to see him continue to do what he's doing now and STAY HEALTHY.
I haven't taken anything out of context. You thought those were positive skills that Jones brought to the table. That, in turn, shaped your opinion of Jones as a player. And as you stated before, you didn't mind moving on from Jones as long as it was an upgrade. However, because you overestimated Jones' skillset, your idea of an upgrade was unreasonably high. The point is you were wrong. And since you've been arguing about this for almost a year, you deserve to eat a little crow.
Expecting him to admit that his analysis was just dead wrong about Jones is probably expecting too much.
No doubt, I agree. I'd like to see some more experimentation with his role. A Beasley-DMo 4-5 combo is intriguing to me if used in spurts.
I dunno but I love D-Mo from the top of the free throw line to each side of the block, and with space to operate either in a P&R or post up. I think he's effective as a PF playing with Dwight, but he's not going to be coming out of his shell like he was from Dec 2014 to Feb 2015. At the 5 he has the space to be creative. I hate to again use Draymond Green (no... I'm NOT comparing him to Draymond folks... people get worked up when you bring up comparisons to great players), but the way that he is a weapon for GS would work similar for D-Mo. However the main issue, as it is with most teams emulating GS, is on the defensive end. So not sure it makes the team overall better, but it sure as hell makes D-Mo more dynamic with the space to use his creativity. That's why I think ultimately D-Mo is going to be a 5 in the modern NBA at some point in his career. Right now though its just about finding a good fit for him to be effective at the 5, and hold his own anchoring the middle. However I have no problem with what he's doing to help at the 4. As long as he's playing I think he's a positive now with his legs under him.
Very simply, I believe that our primary offensive set with Dwight/DMo/Harden should be a Harden/DMo pick-and-pop at the 3-point line with Dwight roaming the weakside baseline. It would be much more effective and create so much more space than Dwight or DMo in pick-and-roll with Harden. And DMo is a good enough shooter/playmaker to execute it big time. It should be our primary bread-and-butter offensive play. In that regard....DMo is like Okur. Okur was an excellent pick-and-pop high post.
