OK, then. Would you further say that the conspiracy theory of DMo and his agent agreeing to fake DNPs #backreasons is centered around increasing TJones' trade value, since Morey should be able to trade TJ at will regardless. So, we also have to factor in whether the trade got increased value back as a result of the DNPs. How would you measure whether a TJ trade was made better by DMo's DNPs?
Didn't want to start a new thread for this question, but since he's mentioned so much in this one... Has anyone else noticed how T-Jones can't seem to jump very high anymore? Is he injured or something? He just doesn't seem to have any lift the last couple of weeks.
JB is too dumb to build the whole offense around DMo and every team in the league is gonna offer him a max contract.
You are absolutely hilarious LMFBO. Some of you hardcore DMOFs are just sickly nuts with your conspiracy theories and who has said the rockets want to resign DMO?
If you recall, last year Jones suffered a freak leg injury that was quite career threatening. He had some nerve disorder that caused his leg to lose feeling entirely. For anyone you've known in the past that has had stroke, brain, or spinal injuries, anytime a large part of your body loses feeling and functionality, its major. Luckily for Terrence, he's young, and was able to come back relatively quick. But those type of injuries always have long-term affects. I said it before that my wife was a former college athlete who at just 30 years old lost feeling & functionality in the entire left side of her body just like that. I was standing next to her when it happened. From what I can see, Terrence has never been able to finish around the rim the same which is understandable. It could have been alot worse than just losing some athleticism long term. Is Terrence damaged goods...... maybe if he doesn't add other skills to compensate for his loss of athleticism. He also has not added much in the way of what they refer to as "veteran savvy" that helps guys like Luis Scola and Andre Miller to still be effective without athleticism. But at the same time Terrence has had really good moments in close games this year that has helped the team get some wins. You can also utilize him in small lineups to speed up your offense. Even though he's far from a perfect player, has lost some abilities with his injury, and lacks the mentality you'd hope in a seasoned NBA player, he's still an NBA rotation big on a good contract. Everyone assumes Morey will trade him, and while I think he's as likely as anyone (well maybe not Lawson), I wouldn't be shocked if Morey kept him if the return value was minimal in trades at the deadline, and tried to steal him back on a value deal in free agency. NBA teams are smart and do their research with health more than anything. I think the nerve issue is something that will scare teams away from huge commitments. People here, and some in the media who don't know anything about nerve, spinal, brain issues just make assumptions because they don't know any better but its serious, and we should all be glad that he didn't lose functionality long term. So how does this relate to D-Mo..... well anything regarding Jones almost always affects how people view the D-Mo situation. Both guys have their question marks to say the least, and both have potential that has had flashes, but been unreliable at best. People think that Morey will HAVE TO CHOOSE just one. I'm not so sure about that. I think teams are smarter than that, and will see the flaws/risks in both of them in free agency, and the price maybe be much less than assumed. Both guys could still be Rockets for a very long time.
But will D-Mo be careful with D-Mo's minutes? The constant charge taking and falling back down on that back is concerning.
Those 6 minute games continue to be very perplexing. If he wasn't feeling good don't play him. If you were trying to "ramp up" his minutes, consistently playing one 6 minute burst does nothing for that. Performance wise there's not much you can learn from that short of a spell in the game. Play him or don't, those cameos served little purpose.
I'm really hoping we cut bait with him at the deadline in a sell high scenario. You would be paying him on what he could become, because he has shown nowhere near max pay impact thus far, and the back issue is a huge concern going forward. He can't rebound, can't take care of the ball, and last year, his only good year, he was a 12 and 6 guy....I don't want to pay for that. If you can dump Brewer's contract and get a good youngster on a rookie deal, much better use of our resources.
Disagree. DMo will get paid based on the player he was last year. Sure, he only averaged 12 ppg, but he was able to create his own shots, and he averaged 50% from the field. As such, it's likely that if his usage were to increase, his stats would also increase. Look at it this way...Al Jefferson's latest contract was $41mm/3 years. Based on that, what do you think is fair for DMo?
Its very noticeable. He may be damaged goods after the nerve injury in his leg and they may need to move him finally. He's been ridiculously inconsistent.
Lars, what's your agenda? If you followed Rockets closely you would know that 12 and 6 doesn't define Donatas Motiejunas. Harden was averaging like 28 points to start the season. On ~30% shooting. But 28 > 12 am I rite.
Sure, he can create his own shot, but many people can create their own shot and that is not grounds for a max contract. He has a pretty post game, but his inability to draw fouls marginalizes his efficiency. Just a simple queery for F / C who are >50% FG% and >55% TS%, there is nothing special about that. Spoiler http://www.basketball-reference.com....0&c6stat=&order_by=ws&order_by_asc=&offset=0 I am not making the argument that he will not get a big contract. He certainly will. Nor am I commenting on what is fair for him...It doesn't matter what is fair. What matters is what is good for the Rockets. You could get Al Jefferson, or Enes Kanter, for free right now, if you really want a low post specialist. This Rockets team was fine without Dmo, last year. They don't need a low post scorer, who brings little else. He was fine on this team on a rookie scale contract, we could afford for him to miss 50 games. This team cannot afford to lock in 15+ million for that, however. Like I said, you are better of using him to dump Brewer and milking out a good prospect in the process.
