Tonight he played 27 minutes, longest since coming back. Only logged 21 minutes the last 3 games combined. 4 FGA, no, not enough. 4 FGA for your best post player, no, not enough.
What excuse? He played well, pointing out that the Rockets screwed up by not going to him down the stretch isn't an "excuse". In fact, there isn't an excuse for not going to DMo in the post as the offense stagnated down the stretch.
Dmo is just not that type of difference maker. He's just not. Dmo is not the presence some of ya'll think he is. The totality of his game does not make that type of impact. The way ya'll describe him you would think he is an all star or something. And the offense he gives on the offensive end has been canceled out by his weak defense and rebounding so far this year. Some of ya'll have become blinded by your love for Dmo. Right. I felt people were putting far too much expectations into Dmo, not just because he was coming off of back surgery but also you could tell this current team has a lot of deep issues that a player like Dmo just can't mask.
Think the rockets gave up something like 65 points or so in the second half and they scored 115 points for the game which is a ton of offense, but the defense wasn't there and they gave up 17 offensive rebounds. I for one want to see him post up much more but you gotta admit Dwight had at going tonight.
Offensively Dwight had it going tonight, but he was a traffic cone on defense. People were scoring over him at the rim all game long and he was leaving his man open for 3 after 3 as well. Dwight's boxscore looked good, but he hurt the team as much or more than he helped.
For close games like tonight's, where one or two baskets is the difference between winning and losing, it absolutely does. Especially when he has a 4 inch height advantage over his defender and our offense has turned stagnant.
NO ****, considering he got what 3 shots total? He made a huge difference the team was much better when he was on the floor. DD
You actually thought we were going to utilize his low post game. Well wekko you don't know Rockets basketball. Why you think he posting his shot chart of him practicing his three point shooting on Instagram?
Post scoring is as important as 3 point scoring. Any highly efficient scoring is approved of in this offense.....of course, with a coach that still inexplicably plays Corey Brewer, you really can't expect them to do the right thing.
bwhjahaha you got to be kidding me. I guess Capela was lights out from the free throw line. In crunch time none of them were good defensively.
Howard on defense was terrible, allowing Horford all those uncontested 3s...this team is sooo ****ING stupid. DD
Okay, let's say he scores more points with more touches. Who's to say he doesn't give those points right back up on the other side of the floor by not giving much rim protection or rebounding. Like I said his offense isn't enough to mask his other issues on the floor. Hell, Harden's offense isn't enough to mask his other issues on the floor this season. Can't have too many of those type of players on the floor at the same time. I feel Dmo has a role on this team and needs more touches. But the team has so many other issues that to think just more Dmo touches means this team's problems would be solved is not reasonable.
LMFBO  If DMO would have scored 30pts and grabbed 16 rebounds like Dwight did tonight you and some of the DMOFs would have been building him a bronze statue next to Hakeem in front of the Toyota Center lol. And that's no lie.
Defensively the best lineup was Capela and DMo on the court together. Dwight just didn't have it defensively tonight. He did do very well offensively though.....but with Capela and Howard down the stretch the scoring stopped and they couldn't make a stop/get a rebound. I know Howard's reputation, but he was a killer out there tonight despite what the boxscore says.
And again that is not the Rockets offense. Howard had to beg for touches man. The 20 million dollar player had to confront them about his touches. So what makes you or anybody else think the Rockets will run their offense through a freaking role player? I don't understand why Brewer is seeing any burn. Dude is horrible, Thornton should be getting most of those minutes. But you know Thornton should've kept his mouth shut.
He does give rim protection. That's why his rebounding numbers are low. When opposing guards drive to the rim, DMo will contest their shot, and that leaves him out of rebounding position. At that point, all he can do is box out the shooter. Considering we rarely utilize DMo's offensive ability, this is a pretty ignorant thing to say. You're underestimating DMo's offensive ability. By virtue of being 7' tall and playing out of the post, DMo can create higher efficiency shots more consistently than Harden. Nice strawman argument. I don't think anyone has made that claim.
