I'm just pointing out how well our starting PF did on the best rebounding big man in the NBA. I think it's significant.

I think it was determined by the play so far this year. Sure his play hasn't been as good at center, but DMo was pretty awesome when he was allowed to play his actual position. He showed to be the best defensive 4 and his offense works a lot better there than at the 5. Either way it doesn't matter, I think we all agree that Dwight Howard getting back is the most important thing.

I think we can all agree on that last part. It was always completely ridiculous when people suggested Dwight wasn't important. And now that we are being exposed at the 5 it is painfully apparent how important he is.

we really need Howard back on the C, DMo has been ineffective when playing against other actual centers

Well what McHale thinks is what really matters, Terrence Jones has been awesome playing next to Dwight as well in the few games he's been able to.

It's a toss up who starts at this point but Jones has been outplaying DMo since he was inserted into the starting lineup and if he continues to do so he will probably get the nod.

The scouting report is out... play him physical, especially in the post. I have the feeling that he hates "banging" down-low consistently, which is what eventually leads to him trickling out to the 3-point line.

He's still got a ways to go to being a viable 2nd option.... or even getting to the Luis Scola level, which may be about where he maxes out at if he can't get much stronger.

If they put Jones as a center and DMo as a PF and DMo outplayed Jones, would you think that mattered?

My boy Bobbythegreat dude is 7ft freaking tall weighing in at 250+. Dude is a Center who plays down to his size. Of course he played better at PF. He was taller and bigger than 95% of the PF in the NBA.

To elaborate on that, I feel like Jones has been playing better as a starting PF than DMo was even when he was a starting PF next to Dorsey, Jones is a more consistent double double threat, can run the floor better than DMo (which is much needed in our slow 1st unit), is a better finisher at the rim, and is a better rebounder (which is also needed when Dwight leaves his man on the weakside to go for blocks).

DMo on the other hand brings a much needed low-post threat to our 2nd unit and would be a monster going up against 2nd unit bigs.

Rockets without Howard, DMO played pretty well for 2-3 months, don't forget that. But for elite centers DMO is not ready yet with his strength, but he is improving daily. Dmo is average center, and pretty good PF in my opinion, including defence and offence. After several years, he can play with elite centers or PF's without problem IMO.

    Great PF are either 6'10 - 7'.
Dirk, LMA, Boggie, Duncan, Davis, P. Gasol, KG.

A lot of 7' players play down to their size.

Gotcha so the position someone plays only matters when the results say what you want them to say. I thought that might be the case.

When people say D-mo is a 7 footer and not undersized they grossly undervalue the importance of wingspan. This isn't an exhaustive list, but it just shows how D-mo is undersized despite his 7 foot frame.

    Wingspans
    Rudy Gobert 7'8
    DeAndre Jordan 7'6
    Andre Drummond 7'6
    Demarcus Cousins 7'6
    Kendrick Perkins 7'6
    Dwight Howard 7'5
    Brook Lopez 7'5
    Clint Capela 7'5
    Marc Gasol 7'4
    Jonas Valanciunas 7'4
    Anthony Randolph 7'3
    Andrew Bogut 7'3
    Tyson Chandler 7'3
    Omer Asik 7'2
    Timofey Mozgov 7'2
    Tiago Splitter 7'2
Al Horford 7'1 (36 inch vert)
Joakim Noah 7'1 (38 inch vert)
    Donatas Motiejunas 6'11

I think Jones is playing better as a PF than DMo was before he switched to C, see my above post for reasoning.

Well I completely disagree. Don't get me wrong, I like Jones, he's awesome at putbacks and that kind of thing but his defense is nowhere near where DMo's was at the 4 and Jones can't consistently create his own shot the way DMo can. Put a healthy Dwight next to DMo and you have a monster defense

There hasn't been a 40 rebound game in over 60 years...

There hasn't been a 35 rebound game in over 25 years

D Jordan would have to play 60 minutes in a triple overtime game (and multiple times do the Dennis Rodman stat-pad tip a missed ball at the rim 3-4 times in one possession each tip counting as a "rebound") to even sniff a 40 board possibility

Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then, Jones can very much create his own shot and is very good off the dribble.
