The more DMo plays the more the game slows down for him, you can not teach 7 feet tall with elite quickness - those are MAJOR advantages in basketball.... Not saying this guy will be all that, but he has everything to become all that. DD
It's al about pairing with me. If Lin comes off the bench I like him playing with DMoDmo seems more better on offense than jones. I think jones game compliments Dwight's presented more but I think DMo style help Asik more than jones would and I think Lin skillet benefits with and from more with DMo. I'm not insinuations that Lin should come off the bench.
Agree completely. I like starting with a bigger more physically imposing lineup. If you have played the game, you know that there is a slight mental edge that can be gained as well in the opening handshakes. So I would rather start Asik with DHo. Against smaller teams, we can consider DMo if he contains to improve.
I agree with this. Having the best passers and team players together in a lineup makes it really fun to watch as well. One or two ball stoppers or guys that don't know how to space and cut can kill an offensive set in a split-second.
You're probably right. He'd build greater consistency with fewer moves. It would make things easier on his muscle memory. But the funny thing is that his coach had even more ways of finishing, and looked how it worked out for him.
What I've seen the last two games is players 6-12, whoever they end up being, are a pretty salty bunch. They have enough scoring to protect or push leads and enough versatility to overcome any second team matchup issues. Plus, you can tell they like playing with each other by the good passing and communication. This is going to be a fun year. This is going to be a fun team.
Still it's just a preseason. Last year when Raptors went on ~6-1 in preseason I placed a bet that they'd be in the playoffs. That din't go well, so I'm no longer getting my hopes high based on preseason.
D-Mo reminds me of Pau Gasol when he first came to the NBA. I remember he was considered a soft big man, until he got stronger.
I saw DMo turn the corner in help defense late last season. If he continues to improve, I think he's the no-brainer for starting with Howard. As with all role players, he just needs to figure out what to do and when to do it. IMO, DMo's roles are: a) move the ball in the flow of the offense b) break his man down in the post when he has a distinct height or quickness advantage c) shoot the OPEN 3 d) provide above average help defense e) to be an average one-on-one defender We don't need him to be an elite rebounder, elite defender, or even an elite offensive player. He just needs to know where to be on defense and when to pull the trigger on offense. If he does that, as other's have said....."you can't teach size or quickness".
You can't play 2 people in the post with Dwight, you just can't The lakers tried (with a far better post player than Dmo is now too)
