I like him. I think he'll be a major contributor down the line. He makes the right plays. That one play where he drove from outside the three point line and dished to the opposite corner was guard-like.
It's about time! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>@<a href="https://twitter.com/houstonrockets">houstonrockets</a> I didn't realize that I have fans ;-p</p>— Donatas Motiejunas (@DonatasMot) <a href="https://twitter.com/DonatasMot/status/296712683628138497">January 30, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
That is how we coach all our Power Forwards to play like. If you can't shoot a 3, then you are a center and unlikely to see playing time when the coaches go Small Ball.
Like others have said, his post game is gonna improved once he gets stronger and can maintain post position. But in the mean time, Rockets should consider using him as a face up four. I mean if you look at his strengths the guy is a triple threat from the four position. Given that he can knock down the mid range jump shot, is a great passer, and has great handle for someone his size. Combined that with his lateral quickness and 7'1 frame, he gives us one hell of an offensive option off the bench.
HAHAHAHA, that was good and to all those mocking my elite post game comment, you will all see the light soon
Remember most of these euro guys or even rookies in general are going to be scrawny for the most part. Remember Yao? Remember Dirk? they were scrawny and slowly packed on the pounds. It's harder to put on the weight with the size they are and the amount of calories they burn each day.

I agree except for the mobile part. I think he has a certain quickness to him for a 7 footer. There was a point in the video where he was just standing around under the basket after Douglas missed a lay up and then he kind of smacked the ball away from the opposing player then passed it out which eventually resulted in nice enough ball movement to get a 3. I just didn't like how he was just standing around under the basket doing absolutely nothing.
he has good hands, high bb iq, knocks down open 3's and good low post offense. he can contribute to rockets' offense in near future. the thing that he must work on is defense. he can learn some pnr and iso defense from asik. also needs to get stronger not to be pushed around. I'm so tired to see talented offensive 4s giving away easy baskets and overpowered under our bucket.
For second round pick I'd say it's too much talking, he's not that good so far...twitter is not the good thing for him to cry up about how tired he is, he's spending on twitter much more time now, and it means he is not practise at that time, not watching defensive videos or whatever these guys need to watch. That's kinda sad...
I like DMo. He has a ton of potential. He needs to get stronger, not heavier. That will come with time. I assume he will become a major rotation player next year barring injuries this year.
You can gain weight and be faster. By weight I mean muscle where squats and deadlifts are the foundation. Don't worry about the weight scale but the lifting numbers. Come on don, rockets training staff ain't teaching you that.
Agreed. He will lose his offensive game if he "bulks up". He's already about 240-245. Just let him fill out naturally. "Bulking him up" would be a mistake.
Why the hell Rockets brought back Motiejunas if they can't even give him few minutes? Let him play in D league. This is pathetic.
He looks pretty rusty and his post up game seemed very rushed. Then again, it was garbage minutes in a blowout and it didn't seem they were running any set plays. Regardless, I'm just glad to see him getting some game time.
