My post has nothing to do with McHale at all. It has to do with maximizing a return on the players you have and not simply throwing them away and replacing them with another player that may not do any better in the short term.

Your statement concerning provability also applies to Morris, and to some extent Pat.

Morey hiring McHale was like when the Bills hired Chan Gailey - everybody knew it would fail. Hiring a retreat is never good unless it is a Rick Adelman or a Stan Van Gundy quality coach.

Sometimes the rookie need to be thrown out there. They need to struggle and experience big games, big matchups. Yeah you risk winning games, but right now we aren't doing too much of that. If he was starting from the beginning of the year, can you imagine how improved he would be at this point? I mean, sure, we all have different opinions just as coaches have different opinions on who they play. If I were a coach I would have him out there, learning from his mistakes. I think this whole utilization of the D-league in the Rockets organization could cause some of these talented rookies to become bitter with the front office. This could tarnish their long-term relationship with the front office. We have all of this trade talk going on, but why the @!*# don't we try to develop these guys. Kevin McHale, in my opinion, is one of the worst coaches, if not the worst, coach in the league. D-mo should've been getting minutes a long time ago and I think McHale needs to be fired before we think about championship contention.

That is good and all, but every time DMo steps on the court he falls down b/c someone significantly stronger bumps into him. He needs to put on weight and get significantly stronger before he can do anything of note. I'd rather he work on things down in the D-league where he can run up and down the court and not get completely physically over powered, while working on his physique. Either way, he shouldn't be in Houston sitting on the bench.

Ralph Sampson was 7'4" (4" taller) and weighted the same as Dmo. I dont remember him falling down a lot.

I feel for him. I don't understand why the coaching staff just won't give him a chance when Patterson, Morris and Asik have been sucking lately. He's watching them from the bench and thinking to himself... " I can do way better than that"..

Our PFs have been so bad lately that D-Mo and Jones all deserves to play. I just don't understand our coaching staff sometimes. I always try to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt but the things they do really questions me. The fact that the coaches constantly keep going with Morris and Pat over and over again even though they are averaging like 4 points together. That's how bad they been. Plus, I wouldn't mind D-Mo playing a little bit at center also. Asik has been pretty bad lately too. His rebounds are down and his productivity on the court is absent. Watching Asik unable to catch a simple pass over and over again or him doing difficult layups and missing it instead of dunking it is just frustrating. Our big men are just terrible altogether.

For real, what's this guy thinking.

Sampson couldn't hold Dmo's dirty socks.

This is clear evidence that, in the coaches' eyes, the source of the recent struggle lies in the PG position, or the backcourt (and since Harden absolutely cannot be the problem, it must be PG).

I just feel sorry for DMo. The coaches haven't got a clue how to play the starters, helping the rooks develop would be the last thing on their plan, if they have one.

DMo's problem is likely defense, not that Rockets' defense is any good. But the coaches probably felt that adding more rooks would be disastrous.

I wish we were a team that didn't rely heavenly on producing our rookies from the DL, [even though Greg Smith has been awesome... but he's just one example... does anyone feel he would have been much better if he played much more during his rookie season?] but just play our rookies and give them a chance to grow on the real field, during real games.

I personally think D-Mo should get more minutes than Morris. D-Mo has so much skill AND potential, it's killing me as a Rockets fan not seeing him play at least 10 minutes a game night in and night out. And I don't think D-Mo would travel every game like Morris has been. I'm sure many of you agree with me. McFail at his best again. Or is it the coaching staff and not McHale himself? Is it ultimately McHale who always decides who gets to play and who sits? I'm curious. I never really thought about this.

HIDALGO — The NBA life is getting a little frustrating for Houston Rockets forward-center Donatas Motiejunas, who is currently on assignment with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Basically, he’s not playing with the big club, and he’s concerned that it’s hurting his development. He views his assignment to the Vipers as a good thing for him, for now.

“I’m happy to have a chance to play,” Motiejunas said Wednesday after the Vipers defeated the Texas Legends. “I can stay there (in Houston) until the end of the season and not play on that team.”

Motiejunas has played a total of 43 minutes in 14 games with the Rockets, averaging 1.6 points.

“The biggest thing at the moment is to bring back my shape and the skill level that I had,” Motiejunas said. “Every day that I’m spending over there makes me lose something.”

On Tuesday, Motiejunas was assigned to the Vipers for the third time this season. He’s certainly making his time with the Vipers count. He had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Vipers on Wednesday. Motiejunas had averaged 22.6 points and 10.4 rebounds in five games with the Vipers.

“I come here and try to bring new energy, a new attitude and help this team,” Motiejunas said. “That’s my goal.”

Gersson Rosas, who serves as both the executive vice president for basketball operations for the Rockets and general manager for the Vipers, said he understands Motiejunas’ frustration. But, his time with the Rockets has not gone unnoticed.

“He’s an interesting case,” Motiejunas said. “He’s done a good job in practice, and he’s made a big impression on our coaches. He’s progressing. Our challenge with anyone who is not getting a lot of playing time is that we have to keep them in shape. ... He wants to play. He understands the value of playing. He’s developing. He’s figuring out how to play at (the NBA) level. He’s close.”

Motiejunas will likely get recalled after the Vipers play Sunday at Austin.

    Sry if posted.
