Trump censored, not allow, certain news media during the election. In his first press coverage, he censored, not allow CNN to ask question. He has shown no issue with censorship of the press, not allowing certain news org to participate. That type of censorship, choosing and selecting what he believe is favorable coverage and disallowing what he believe is not.
I did (for a few others) for a very short period of time, but personally found it's limiting to not hear all the voices out there, no matter how much it looks to be someone trolling or just with very different opinion. I also like to notice my mind reactions when reading some of the posting. So, personally decided to not continue using the ignore list, more for myself than anything.
Im all for individuals not cooperating with news organizations they don trust. That's not censorship and you don't know what that word means. So these news organizations are shown without a doubt to have leaked debate questions to the Clinton campaign and to have organized with the Clinton campaign to push pro-Clinton stories, but if you don't incorporate them you are censoring them. wtf?
We aren't talking about abt individual. We are talking about POTUS. But OK, you answered the question. You have no issue with the POTUS not allowing some news organization to ask questions or participate in POTUS press conference.
OF course. Every president has done this. you think anyone can just demand answers from the president? Can Bill of BIll's Agriculture Blog get answers from teh president? NO? What a crime.
Nope. Name one who acted in this manner? Show me a time when Obama flat out refused to answer a question from Fox News in the middle of a press conference where they are already invited? Please. Please. I urge you. Remember Fox News is the same organization that speculated whether a first bump between Obama and his wife was 'terrorist' like. The same people who pushed on the narrative the he is a secret Muslim born in Kenya.
Once they got caught cheating, the organization should have been banished for a period of time. CNN shouldn't even be allowed in that room.
In your mind, what is the difference between denying someone a press pass and not answering a question of someone who has a press pass? Like I said every president chooses who to answer and not answer questions from (every human being does this). Your outrage is moronic. Also in your opinion what should be CNN's punishment for leaking debate questions to the Clinton campaign (I don't mean legal)? No. that was Hillary in 2008
That reporter was way out of line. Show me where the press yelled at Obama. I am genuinely curious if that precedent has been set.
Wasn't the individual who leaked those questions forced to resign? Is there any evidence that this was an action orchestrated by CNN? Also, do you think that Trump's choice to disallow CNN reporters was motivated by the town hall debate during primary season, or just negative coverage against him? I assume its the latter, which is troubling. Not saying I think CNN's coverage of the candidates, as a whole, was fair. But that can be said about a lot of news organizations on different sides of the aisle. Denying CNN a press pass is no better than if Clinton denied Fox News a press pass.
There is a danger to a free press when caught is judgement made and when that judgement is in the hand of those in power.
First of all let's clear up some inaccuracies about the leak debate question hubbub. It wasn't questions. It was one question. Secondly, The person responsible was outed from their job.
That reporter was way out of line for continuing to try asking a question that Trump wanted to ignore. Because, you know, everyone who just doesn't kiss Trump's a** is fake news.
the continued erosion of freedom of the press, one of the few avenues we have as a general public to address and try to attain accountability from people in power. Trump and the far right have been cultivating this mindset for a while now; they've drilled into their followers that all media is 'corrupt', making it easier for them to not worry about anyone paying attention when they do actual corrupt and questionable things, even when the outlets that exist to uncover those things still try to tell us. It is a tried and true method used through out history. Sadly, their plan is working perfectly and moreso helps enable the kind of campaigns that foriegn governments do to sow more disinformation and mistrust with great success. And yet because people are too busy playing politics like sports, too worried about protecting their 'side' to stop it. Making the term 'mainstream media' mean what it has now to the GOP is exactly what those who would want to weaken the democratic process would hope for.
I'm quite confident Fox News pushed the agenda. I have video evidence to prove it. Won't let you slip by with such a blanant lie. Go ahead. Name me a time where Obama denied Fox News a press pass. Name me a time where he refused to answer a single question from Fox News in a press conference? You think Fox News was more fair to Obama than CNN is with Trump when Fox News tried to spin a narrative that he is a Muslim brotherhood sympthizer born in Kenya? Get off your ****ing high horse. It's pathetic. Donald Trump ant ****ing infallible. It's okay to call him out on bullshit like this.
