When Rockets' fans start being preoccupied with the grizzlies it says, at least to this grizzlies fan, that they have draft jealousy. Face it: it won't be long before the only way a rocket team will be seeing a grizzlies team is looking up in the standings.

What GM gave up Rudy Gay for Shane Battier? Who was that genius?

That genius is unemployed, thank goodness. But at least the Battier/Gay trade can be debated. If you meant Morey, he's the same GM that got Scola for zip and Artest for Donte Greene (who is the equivalent of zip).

I think this might be the funniest post I have ever seen on any forum, ever. And Grizzlies fans exist?

Gay is waaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated on this mb

Terrible defender, bad rebounder...a scorer on a bad team.

And I think it was CD who made the trade, not DM

I don't see the Amar'e for Battier trades being offered. ;)

Let's face it: the only reason the rockets are good is because they got lucky and won the draft with Yao ming. Every other draft in the last 10 years, but I could go back further the Rockets have gaffed.

    Jason Collier - 2000
Gave up Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, Brandon Armstrong for Eddie Griffin - 2001
Bosjan Nachbar - 2002, Ming (lucky)
2003 - no pick, francis trade. Got this because of a francis power play.
    2004 -no pick
    2005 - Luther Head
    2006- Traded for Battier
    2007 - Aaron Brooks
    2008 - Donte Green

Other than a no brainer number 1 pick, Yao Ming you guys have done nothing in the draft. I would argue that if Michael Dickerson had not gotten hurt that he would have ended up being at least an equal deal, but the world never got to see Dickerson really play.

But inversly, you all have traded: Richard Jefferson, Rudy Gay for Battier and Eddie Griffin.

Carroll Dawson is gone. Who cares what he did? Adding Battier wasn't "nothing". Drafting Aaron Brooks wasn't "nothing". Getting Ron Artest for Donte Green wasn't "nothing". For you to say drafting Yao was "lucky" while calling 2006-08 "nothing" is just plain silly. Your comment on Rockets fans being "preoccupied with the Grizzlies" and having "draft jealousy" is way beyond silly. Nobody in the United States of America is preoccupied with the Grizzlies, including the city of Memphis. The terms "Memphis Grizzlies" and "nobody gives a flip" are synonymous.

In case you didn't realize it, this is the NBA Dish, where even the pathetic Grizzlies come up for discussion on rare occasions. It's almost never positive about them since there is nothing good to say about them. That team should be snatched from Michael Heisley and moved to another city. He couldn't tell the truth if his head was in a guillotine.

It's not jealousy at all, you can have your top 10 picks every year while we go to the playoffs every season :p

Only team below the Grizz are the Bobcats, and maybe next year they'll make the playoffs and actually win one game.

Two of your best players and pretty much the only reason you guys make the playoffs had nothing to do with yall, but you all lucked up on them. That being Yao Ming and Steve Francis, which turned into Tracy Mcgrady.

You win the lottery in the year with a consenus number 1 pick and the best Center prospect before or since Shaq, Ming. If Francis had not refused to play for the grizzlies you wouldn't even have him. Even Ron Artest came to you as a give from a player who forced a trade.

Your booty amounts to Scola, Aaron Brooks and Battier, in 10 years of drafting. With those picks you COULD HAVE HAD Rudy Gay and Jefferson.

The only deal you guys won ON YOUR OWN was Scola, who is a decent pf, who like Aaron Brooks had a once in a lifetime playoff run.

    Yeah duh. See, watch this...

    Lakers: Kobe & Pau
    Spurs: Duncan & Parker
    Celts: KG & Pierce
    Jazz: Dwill & Boozer

You getting my point? Maybe one day your team will have more than one all-star in the history of your franchise.

Yeah and? We drafted him and he's ours. This is how the NBA works, you get the pick and you pick your player. Rockets could have skipped on Yao of course. Don't get what you're getting at...we're lucky? Okay thank you. You see teams like the Rockets, they have down years, EVERY team has them...difference is the Grizz...They have decades of suck at a time and no real playoff glory...screw winning a title...just making it to the finals or semi's once....just winning A PLAYOFF GAME!

Making trades and taking advantage of other teams situation is part of the NBA.
In those 10 years compared to the Grizz last 10 years?

You're drafting top 10 every year and can't find one franchise player? Maybe Mayo is it...but it takes two all-stars to at least be a PLAYOFF team. Goodluck finding another before Mayo's rookie deal is up...

Plus artest was for Donte Green AND Omri Casspi. Green had a promising rookie campaign and it is not known yet but for a 1 year rental of artest you guys gave away another draft pick, which is a theme with this team. You guys trying to keep the ship afloat which is about to make a crash and when it does you guys will be bad for a long time.

AS long as Ming's knees hold up you guys will be a decent team so you better pray that Ming's knees don't give out with the kind of injuries he's had.

You've got out of the first time 1 year in those ten years, last year. A lot of good Ming has down for you. You see your team is basicallytrading youth for veterans and thus you are never going to get enough to take you over the top. Once Ming's knees go you guys will be bad for a really long time, even if you reload next year. Ming seems like he is about to turn the corner to slowing down and that's going to hurt your team big time.

    Umm, no he didn't.

He struggled to get minutes on a 17 win team. He shot below 33% from the field, and 30% from beyond the arc.

He still has potential, but his rookie campaign was piss poor.

We lucked on getting Francis? We traded for him...how is that luck?

I guess I would be bitter if I had to watch Memphis play every night as well. Sucks to be you.

Anyone else see the irony here? Chris Wallace is your GM. Nice Gasol trade. Nice waste of a 4th overall pick on Conley :D
