People trying to compare a white Shaft and White Jeffersons to a Black Spiderman is pretty ignorant. Seriously, how big of a role does race actually play in Superheros like Spiderman or Superman? I say none to none. The only reason why the majority of superheros are white anyways is because most comics were written in a very racially challenged era. Well, its 2010 now. Skin color should be last on the list when casting for a certain role. Its actually sad to see people disagree about seeing a minority play a major Superhero role. Seriously, how does skin color have that much effect on the outcome of a movie. Do they only do things white people do or something? I mean, half the time he'd be wearing a costume anyways.

He lives with his aunt (who is like a grandmother) He struggles in school due to "extracurricular activities" He has a hard time holding down one job. He is constantly surroudned by white villians trying to keep him down... OMG...Spidey is black

I have way too much to lose if this thing goes through. No way my 5 year old still believes I'm actually Spider-Man if Glover gets this part.
So much truth in this. So why black then? And the Jeffersons won't the only race that overcame things to succeed.
Name some reasons Shaft has to be black and then name a white character that could not be black for similar reasons.

White people play everybody else in movies.....even other races at times. Those who say they wouldn't watch it if the lead was a different race....come on Texas. If they do cast this guy and restart it, can they do the Gwen Stacey thing right? In the comic book Spider Man breaks her neck trying to save her, but in the 3rd movie he goes ahead and saves her life no probelm.
The 1st one made $403m, the 2nd one made $374m, and the 3rd one made $336m. It is trending down, which is not really good. Sequels are suppose to trend up. This indicates that the series is failing and people are tired of it. So reboot.
The three movies are pretty recent, though. Why are they rebooting so soon? Does the world really need more Spider Man movies just a few years after the last one?
I don't think it as an issue, for me, Spidey is too recent and #3 left a bad taste. Some characters like Thor or Capt. America should be white. ...But others like Green Lantern or Flash..no problem on whichever ethnicity. I would say Superman, but that is overdone like Spidey.
