He doesn't have to apologize right after the play. He can do it later. Even if it was inadvertent, it's not cool to pretend nothing happened when you give a guy a concussion.
But the conspiracy theorists always grab the "easy to spot" stuff and use it to supposedly prove whatever it is they believe, which is always something on a grand, noticeable scale. Huge conspiracies (on the level of David Stern influencing refs to throw games) are very hard to keep secret. My opinion has nothing to do with giving the NBA the benefit of the doubt. I know very few people more cynical than myself. But some of the stuff in this thread is kooky from my standpoint. I have also found that when people resort to ridicule against those who disagree with them, they are almost always wrong.
Sure, it's not an obvious foul on Howard, since he does have the right to go up for his shot. But give these players some credit --- it's not like Howard didn't realize he was right on top of Davis. He can pay a little attention to not smashing in a guy's face. Yes accidents happen, but Howard is constantly letting his elbows fly like cannons despite being the biggest guy on the court. Maybe I'm just old, but when I played streetball, if you injured a guy accidentally, you would at least shake the dude's hand later.
I don't want to defend NBA refs in any vein, but Donaghy should not be getting any spotlight/guest spots/camera time. He doesn't deserve to have a voice in this sport.
First, this is playoff basketball. You don't play to make friend. You play to make a name for yourself. There should be no foul at all on Howard, whether it was an accident or not. It happened because Nate slapped him. I don't see how you can pay a little attention to not smashing some guy's face when your arms are slapped towards the guy. There was no way Dwight could've prevented it even if he wanted to. Second, I am sure the Celtics are also doing nasty stuff to Dwight on the other end, and I am fine with that. It's a competition, where only the best goes on. MJ played rougher than this in practice, let alone the playoffs (okay, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but you get the point) Lastly, the Celtics called a timeout as soon as they saw Davis bouncing around. The Magics had to go to the bench. When the quarter ended, Davis left the court right away to go to the locker room. There was no way for Dwight to shake his hand.
if anyone actually watched the post game interview one of the first things howard said was that davis is his friend and he hopes he is ok. he didn't know what had happened and he just hoped he was ok... effin doucher...
Attention w****. Donaghy is just trying to get attention and make money by saying contreversial stuff on TV shows. @verti89, you're the doucher here. Big Baby's injury was in no way Dwight's fault. Nate Rob fouled Dwight into hitting Big Baby.
*chuckle* not LOOKING fix is kind of the point If it LOOKED fixed. . it would not be effective Rocket River
Looking at the responses in this thread only makes me wonder did human beings really progressing or regressing, the blindness no doubt no questions asked naiveness just sickens me even after one business industry after another being exposed to be fraudulent and down right manipulative. God bless America! WWE is the best sport ever! Obama is anti-christ!
where did i say that? where are my blanket statements? i said those that are willing to admit donaghy altered games but not willing to admit that other referees can do the same (by saying there is no foul play here aka no conspiracy) are hypocrites. not being open to possibility of this is being a hypocrite. a pretty SPECIFIC statement so the fact that you are open to possibility of current refs being corrupt means you arent in the group of ppl i was talking about and youre arguing with me over nothing. ok awaiting your response
You don't apologize especially to the celtics. You're not out there to make friends; Dwight always takes the high road on hard fouls even towards the end Ray Allen on intentional fouls was hitting him hard. It was unfortunate play but you move on.
Blanket and specific are not contradictory. You put a large group of people in one specific basket with a blanket statement. Open a dictionary. For example, bigots do the same with people who are different from them. Get the concept? I'm open to a ref being corrupt. Pretty much everyone is. But I'm extremely doubtful Stern is trying to affect this series "for revenue purposes". Can you even see the difference? If not, just wow! Take the filter off. Not trying to lecture, but don't be so judgmental about people who don't agree with you. Just take what they say for what it is instead of calling them "hypocrites" and other juvenile babble. People like you are very difficult to engage because you either don't read what others say or you distort it beyond all reason.
it's not a blanket statement when it only applies to maybe 1-3 ppl in this thread. youre pretty hypocritical by saying im not reading what ppl say when my post wasnt even directed to anyone in particular; therefore, i didnt have to read anyone's post, it was just a comment. if it didnt apply to you, then move on. you took the time to respond to it even though it didnt apply to you. i ask you, what did i distort? specific examples please.
Oh brother, I give up. You win. I will move on. You have defeated a "hypocrite". When you grow up, you'll learn to use words like that more carefully.
he needs to stfu hes just going out there cherry picking every badly officiated game out there to be part of the conspiracy theory
Money = greed It can make anybody do things they would never do under normal events. Donaghy may be lying, but the one thing he ain't lying is how business (What NBA really is) want to make money and sometimes that may involve stretching the truth. Just look at our society...people can be corrupt. Church figures molesting kids CEO's lying Non-Profits items not going to the right places Goldman Sachs conspiracy Goods we buy that are tainted but somehow magically don't get inspected properly as we import goods. (but hey lets point the finger) The list goes on and on about how any society can fall into corruption just to make a dollar. NBA is a business, just look at College Sports (highly profitable, but somehow College tuition's just keep on rising....)
you give up because you have nothing. you say "People like you are very difficult to engage because you either don't read what others say or you distort it beyond all reason." and when i ask you to cite where i didnt read or where i distort ppl's words, you got nothing. you're the one making blanket statements here about me, or 'people like me'.
