****, I BET ON THAT GAME

I vividly remember complaining about Head fouling and causing me to lose a point spread bet. (i bet on Houston Rockets to win, but of course, any win within 5 points constitutes a tie, so I lost)

    **** you, Donaghy! haha

Make very little money? I'd kill for a $260,000 salary.

I heard of espn radio that it wasnt so much the money directly but the fact that donaghy might have bet waaaay too much on too many games and could have gotten in debt with the mob. One can see how easily a person can go out of control when they have a gambling problem. So suddenly he's down hundreds of thousands of dollars and even that salary cant pay it.

So gambling was really his downfall.

haha. this is the footage that cnn keeps showing over and over. rafer follows him to the score table with his hands out in pleading disbelief. the other ref is coming over to tell tim that he was way off. then the T happens and rafers throws his arms in disgust. it's cnn's go to footage for tim donaghy. rockets.

then they start showing him in pictures where players are complaining with him and its more rockets. juwan howard, i remember.

but yeah. watch tim donaghy start naming names if he has to go down. this could be just the tip of the iceberg. david stern's press conference was abominable. it was as if he was speaking 4 times slower than usual so that news stations would switch away from the live feed to something else. and that's what cnn did at least.

Also Donaghy's insistance for the foul to be on Rafer, put Rafer on the bench with 5 fouls with no reliable backup to substitute for him. We all know how our offense went to shreds without Rafer in the lineup.

You got to think like a criminal. From that point of view, it would look too obvious if he somehow forced the Spurs out of the playoffs. Anyways, isn't this guy the same ref who T'ed up Deke for the finger wag?

I think this is the game when we were actually on a bad streak? and played the Celtics the next game. I think we were 1 out of 4 and the Magic game was our only win?

i think it was to cover the spread, since the rockets against orlando should have been like 7 points favorite, and the 4 would have definitely covered the spread. Sounds like he was trying to just make the game closer.

IMHO. This is exactly what the NBA needed. Maybe now the refs can feel the heat and actually attempt to make better calls. Maybe now, David Stern can get his @$$ of his high horse and consider the legitamacy of some of the protests and critism of the refs. I truely feel that next season, we will see more accurate calls. We will see more refs overturn thier decision if they made a bad call. You know as soon as there is a questionable call, the fans, players, coaches, GM's, towel boys, power dancers etc... everyone and thier momma will be chewing them out.

I also hope that Donaghy rats out every other ref that is on the take. It will take major action to rebuild the trust that they have lost from the fans.

Donaghy must have felt like ripping his hair out the way they were missing free throws after free throws.

I don't know anything about organized crime or gambling, but I would imagine that if I had managed to get an official on the take from within my illegal operation, the last thing I would want is for one of my fall-guys to know anything about anyone else involved, or much of anything at all about whatever organization he's involved with.

In other words, while it's entirely possible that more than one referee may be compromised by the mob and gambling, there is no reason to assume he even KNOWS any names to name. If I was a dirty ref, the last thing I would do is tell another ref about it.

I think if he snitches out another ref, then he might get whacked!

The Rockets were actually underdogs by 1.5 points. Here is a nice website that shows all of last season's spreads and o/u.
    http://www.oobg.com/stats/statfeed.php?page=nba/nbateam&teamid=HOUSTON&season=2007

I really think that he was trying to control the o/u. Here is a log of what happened during that game. There seem to be a lot of foul calls at the end but I don't remember the game so I'm not sure if they were ligit calls or not.

its so freaking obvious that he was effecting the over/under but not the point spread....they said he led all refs with Techs and fouls over the last 2 season when you combine them together....he also reffed the rockets/clips game where Yao got hurt..
if you go back and look, when Yao goes down you can see donaghy crying...hehehe...just kidding....

i also was at that game! i remember we had pretty good seats, man i wish i would have known to watch donaghy. it is sooo ironic that they missed so many of those gimme free throws, i bet the mobsters were in the crowd giving him the *cut-throat*

so there's this game, the yao injury game, the sa/suns game 3(?), the brawl at the palace, and not to forget the rasheed vs donaghy incident!!! for a conspiracist, this guy does not know how to lay low.

i know this, we will definitely not see or hear from donaghy for a long while. after all this blows over, even after jailtime, he will be living in cognito next to henry hill with all the other schmucks. cant help but feel bad for his family

If I were the mob, why would I let some gamble-holic, anger-driven, low-life like Tim Donaghy know ANYTHING about my organization? I would exploit him for his weaknesses, gain whatever I could from him, then throw him back to sea. That's why I'm really skeptical about the fact that he can name names. Wouldn't it serve in the mob's advantage to let Donaghy think he's alone in all of this, and that they are his only way out?
