The basic premise would be a coach who has "been there and done that" before. One with experience Pros and cons to all hires. Udoka would warrant a good look VanGundy loves the city Different types there. But we need some professionalism
This is exactly what we need!! Crazy eYeS!!! Spoiler: Make this guy GM.... Crazy eYeS!! ... Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
Udoka could be good, but JVG might not survive coaching this group. He likes veterans and defense. I think coaching these kids would put him in an early grave, and I'm barely even exaggerating that. Dude is still one of my favorite coaches of all-time.
With only 24 games left we probably are stuck with Silas, most likely he ‘decides to step away’ to spend time with family after the season and hires on as an assistant somewhere this summer. The next 24 games will be like an alcoholic hitting rock bottom for the franchise
Any coach worth a damn is going to talk to D'antoni and Silas about working for Tilman. Absolutely no one who has ever worked for Tilman recommends working for Tilman.
No, apparently the worst record in NBA history can’t get the job done so he’ll probably retire a Rocket. Perhaps next season we can bring on Quinn Snyder and Udoka as assistant coaches.
In order to get Wemby you have to look like complete utter trash. So far Silas has surpassed that. NBA draft is rigged and Houston is a large market, so this hemorrhaging of money will force Silver's hand.
We're pretty much guaranteed a bottom 4 finish which is the best odds of 1and 2. I would like to get the new coach in with at least 10-12 games left so he can watch the team and have some credibility when he tells each player what they need to work on during the off-season. If not players will waste it without direction doing whatever they feel like doing. Like with Jalen I would tell him to spend 2-3 hours EVERY DAY practicing dribbling! 2nd would be to get his shot mechanics down with the new stroke Lucas worked with him on. Jabari same in reverse order. He needs to both shorten the motion and quicken his setup on his shot. After that dribble, dribble, dribble!
I like your thinking and thanks for the articles. The only bit that worries me at all is Conley, an experienced guard, saying the system was complex. If he reckons so then I am not sure how our young team will adapt to it. I guess the only way is up!
OP raised my hopes but I should have known this tank will roll all the way to the finish line with its top commander leading them.
Well. If it was going to happen, it probably would have happened yesterday. Looks like our man is sticking around!
Given how much league wide negativity has been on the team this year, I don't see how waiting to fire Silas in the off season is better than firing him now. Especially, if Silas is so dependent on one-on-one creative offensive talent to run his non-system, playing the post ASB stretch without Green or KPJ for most of it is probably only going to worsen the well even more. All in all, I'm more and more concerned that Silas will be back next season.
