Mathematically speaking, I agree that there has to be other life forms out there. And mathematically speaking, some of them should be at an intelligent level.
My problem with it has always been with the timeline of things. Humans have only been on Earth for 200-300k years and only intelligent enough to know about these things for 2-3k years maybe. So who's to say that some aliens didn't visit Earth some 3 billion years ago. And there's a good chance that their entire species died out some 2.99 billion years ago.
So the likelihood of us running into an intelligent, space traveling alien race at this specific time in the Universe, in this specific space in the Universe, seems minuscule.

Word... Unless they have a really fast space ship that defies everything we know of in science. Such as, a space ship that moves faster than the speed of light that would dispel all our logic; ie Galaxy X is 8349234515 billion light years away so Y and Z are impossible.

I don't think people would pay so much attention to Stephen Hawking if he didn't have ALS and wasn't stuck in a wheelchair. He reminds me of the Tupac Shakur of physics.

Really, so now we can't enroll the future grandkids into the foreign galaxy exchange program. I thought the worst of interaction was being not very popular, not very cool

He does seem to be borrowing more and more of the Al Gore strategy as he goes along.

Sorry dude, but you and your "buddies", RKREBORN and REEKO_HTOWN, all need to get new user names as every time I see a post from any one of you, I think it is the same person - maybe because all 3 of you have your user names in all caps and all begin with a R.

You don't need to travel faster than light if you can generate a gravity wave that folds space and time around the craft.

What makes you think aliens have to comfort to our laws of physics?

What makes you think the universe is based on math and physics anyway?

Maybe they can perceive and interact with reality in a completely different way than us.

These questions are really asking the same thing, I think. And the answer is, I believe the universe is governed by physical laws, some of which we have a good understanding of, because we are able to make accurate predictions using our understanding of these laws.

First, they're not "our" laws of physics. The speed of light is the same whether measured in mps or whatever unit Al Alien is using.

Second, what are the options? Could someone capable of interstellar travel have an understanding of the world based not on mathematics and physics, but onomatopoeia or haiku?
