Like the tobacco industry, they've already spent decades peddling a product that has metastisized into a cancer across the globe.

The sad part is the fox variety show will probably end up settling and then this gets swept under the rug......I hope there is some stipulation that tucker and friends have to apologize on air, but at the end of the day the mindless "base" who believes this stuff will not be swayed, they can't fathom that they would be duped.

1.5B is really a drop in the bucket for fox, I wish they would have gone after 10x this amount

I don't understand why they didn't settle before the trial to avoid all of this stuff coming out. It would have been way better for them to have done that.

Maybe Dominion wants to teach Fox News a lesson? And in addition to the 1.6 billion Dominion is also seeking punitive damages, right?

Lol. Courts and lawsuits have a liberal bias. Even if they have to pay and apologize, we aren’t sheep and know it’s just the deep state.

The lawsuits filed by Abby Grossberg, who worked as a senior booking producer for Maria Bartiromo and most recently head of booking for Tucker Carlson, accused Fox’s legal team of
having engaged in wrongful conduct as it prepared her for a pre-trial deposition in the election technology company’s case.

Fox News Attorneys acted as agents and at the behest of Fox News to misleadingly coach, manipulate, and coerce Ms. Grossberg to deliver shaded and/or incomplete answers
    during her sworn deposition testimony,
which answers were clearly to her reputational detriment but greatly benefitted Fox News,” the lawsuit filed in Delaware stated.

The Delaware lawsuit alleged that the “concerted efforts and actions” from Fox’s legal team ultimately caused Grossberg to testify in a way that portrayed the facts “in a false light” in order to

“shift culpability” away from senior Fox News executives and “away from Fox Corporation.”

I think $1.5 billion is a significant amount of money to just about everybody (except maybe the federal government). Fox reported net income of $1.0 billion in 2020. So, the asking price more than wipes out all shareholder returns for the offending year, more if they stack punitive damages on top of that. Enterprise value is estimated around $20 billion, so it's like biting off 7.5% of the company. I don't know if its the right number or a just number, it wouldn't kill the company or anything, but it's definitely a big enough number to matter to Fox and its shareholders.

Should have lawyered up before being deposed, but better late than never, I guess.

lol, she didn't get a promo and now the environment she helped run is toxic and mysogynistic.

When she began work on Carlson’s show, Grossberg said the environment was horrific. On her first day, she said she learned the show’s workspace was decorated with large photos of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “in a plunging bathing suit revealing her cleavage.”

“Grossberg was mortified by what she was witnessing and began to experience a sinking feeling in her stomach as it became apparent how pervasive the misogyny and drive to embarrass and objectify women was among the male staff at [‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’],” the lawsuit filed in New York said.

The lawsuit continued to describe a culture at Carlson’s program in which women were subjected to crude terms and in which jokes about Jewish people were made out in the open. Grossberg named Carlson and members of his staff in the lawsuit filed in New York.

Filippatos said that Grossberg has “ample documentary evidence in all forms to support a broad swath” of the allegations made in the lawsuits.

Grossberg told CNN that she filed her lawsuit in hopes that it will spur change at the network and because she believed it “was the only step” she had to regain her pride and save her career. Grossberg said she wanted to “expose the lies and deceit” that she “witnessed for years” on two of Fox News’ biggest shows.

Fox News needs to be shut down. This should not be legal for someone that claims to be “news”.

Can FoxNews be excluded from freedom of the press protection? Their own fact checking said that the claims against Dominion were 100% false. Yet, unlike a journalistic enterprise they ran with the story anyway.

It isn't about them leaning right. It is about them knowingly pushing and publicizing lies and falsehoods.

I feel like there needs to be very serious consequences for what they do that go way beyond just having pay out some settlement

Fox News CEO said fact-checks about election claims are 'bad for business'

On Dec. 2, 2020, Suzanne Scott sent an email to Meade Cooper, the executive vice president of prime-time programming, complaining about a fact-check on Trump’s voter fraud claims by Fox News anchor Eric Shawn.

Scott said she was worried it would alienate viewers. in her memo to Cooper, she wrote "this (fact-checking) has to stop now

It's an open secret they weren't a legit news org first but rather a delivery device for peddling a counterculture against left leaning media. Recent downsizing of their journalists came last whioe the fact checkers and quality control has always been shoestrung for uhhh "profitability."

With the latter, newsmax and OAN are beating them at their own game, so they're at a rock and hard place as cable profits continue the risk of plummeting.

If you view it as a business like selling cigarettes or p*rnography, fox news figured out the crowd still glued to their tvs over mobile devices, and will commit to double down giving them what they want while placing a generous legal retainer.

I'm fine with them promoting speech rights but this is def a blurry line like Scientology hiding behind religous freedom in order to avoid paying taxes for their real estate and income. Maybe civil precedents are the best way going forward...
