This is probably the most hilarious post you've ever made. batman pointed out that Bush was way worse than Obama when it comes to same sex marriages.

And once again you ignore the fact that Bush wanted to change the U.S. constitution to permanently discriminate against homosexuals. Or worse than ignore it, you act like a President who has enough of a sense of justice to oppose that is on the same level on this issue.

You're position is just insane and ultimately laughable as you try and pretend like you care about the issue of same sex marriage and equality for homosexuals.

It's as if you were around during the mid 19th century shouting about how the treatment of various tribes in the American frontier was unfair, yet claimed that politicians and officials who thought all of the tribes should be killed or driven off their land were no different than those who actually opposed those policies.

The problem with winning an election and serving in office is that you have to appeal to both Liberals and Conservatives. Conservatives hate gay marriage just like they - Goldwater, Rehnquist and Buckley - hated Civil Rights fifty years ago. Elected leaders like Obama are placating them just like FDR, Truman, Eisenhower and JFK did then, so they can get more important work done. If you honestly think the poorest, least influential and lowest participating voting block in the country is keeping gays from getting married, then you're lying to yourself.

Why are the right-wing nuts on the board complaining about this? I thought they were against gay-marriage?

Anyway, Obama shouldn't try to fight for gay marriage. SOme people say marriage is not a right. It's not. No more than a license to drive is a right. But to say only straight people can drive and gays can not is discrimination.

So say only heterosexuals can marry and and gays can not is discrimination.

But I think Obama has bigger fish to fry right now.

    Obama's not placating conservatives.
Or being shrewd with his political capital.
    Or strategising the correct timing.

He's been abundantly clear that he is against gay marriage. That he believes a 'marriage' is between a man and a woman.

He shouldn't be getting a pass on this. He's wrong

gays have the right to marry. no one's preventing them from marrying; in fact many gays are in heterosexual marriages. what don't you guys understand about this? marriage is, in the eyes of a government, a legal contract. Nothing more. And the government has the right to dictate the circumstances under which one can and cannot enter a contract. If the government chooses to define 'marriage' as between a man and woman, then what's the problem? Homosexual people aren't being discriminated against; heterosexual people can't get married to a person of the same gender either.

Uh. Did you really think I thought that pic legitimate?

Moreover, most people on this board seem to recognize that I am a fan of Obama, but not above calling him and his admin out as needed.

Anyhow, it appears that this was the last trumpeting of a Bush administration right-wing bigot inadvertently left on the payroll.

I'm not surprised, but I'll wait to see if this is rescinded or otherwise counteracted before I jump back on the Obama happy-train.

What a horrible argument. Gays aren't allowed to marry another consenting adult that they love. There was a time in the not so distant past when blacks were also allowed to marry, they just couldn't marry anyone outside of their own race.

Govt. can not always dictate who can and can not enter a contract. That's completely wrong.

The govt. already has rules that prevent it against allowing one race to enter into a contract but not the other, so they can't just pick and choose based on random characteristics.

When they allow a certain part of the population of pairs of consenting adults to enter the contract, but not other pairs of consenting adults to enter that contract based on who they are, that is certainly discrimination.

So you agree that the gov't should be able to say who you should or should not be able to marry?

Maybe the gov't should pass a law that defines marriage as a union between two people who's names don't have the same first letter? So Alice can't marry Alex. John can't marry Joan.

That's fair right? That's not discriminating? And heck, conservatives are all about having the gov't interfere in their lives right?

Really, you would discriminate against people because of their sexual preference?

Judge not, lest ye be judged.

Children have to learn to hate, they naturally accept others, even though they are different.

Landlord Landry sounds like a bigot in his posts.

I am not an athiest, but why would it bother you who was quoting, it is FROM the bible, it is not out of context.

If you believe in the Bible, it is what it is....right?

So, if you are saying I misquoted you then please explain how a person's sexual preference should be considered in anything regarding rights?

Everyone in this country has the same rights...it is in the constitution.

"The pursuit of happiness" ring a bell?

I really do not know what is more comical, your obnoxious claims of child abuse, and the state one day recognizing it as such, or.......

you thinking that your bickering about how I raise my children has any effect on anything in any relevant matter.

but since you know my family so well, please tell me how I am teaching them hate?

I don't have to know your family at all to know that teaching them that homosexuality is wrong is hateful and abusive. If you can't figure out "how" that is, you are not only a bigot but a dumb bigot.

I don't pretend to know you either, but I feel compelled to point out the fact that a lot of people who feel so strongly about discriminating against gays are themselves waging an inner battle. If that's true of you, I hope you are able to find peace sooner rather than later.
