Enjoy it while you can, Landlord.

You, and the poisonous hate you feed your children, are on the wrong side of history. This will change for the better and soon.

I actually agree with you on hospital visitation. Patients should be allowed to see/visit whomever they choose.

the other stuff has been debated/addressed a billion times. Not worth going into again.

Another epic fail by the obama administration.

I guess even the most popular democrat since FDR has to pander to the wackjob religious right.

    What a douche.

Only people over 40 oppose gay marriage by a majority. In some polls it's only people over 65. Young people (those under 40) overwhelmingly favor equal rights and equal treatment of all people. It's only a matter of time.

I've been very disappointed by Obama on gay rights so far, but it doesn't ultimately matter how he feels about it or what he does. Civil rights and equality can't and won't be stopped; it's only a matter of time. And I hold out hope that Obama's main failing here is moving slow, that he will eventually do the right thing.

Regardless, this change is gonna come. And you, Landry, and your brainwashed children will have to suffer a world where gays and lesbians are treated just like everybody else. Sucks to be a hater.

Being 'Married' should not give you automative preferential treatment in any of those.

I've generally been a big fan of the Obama team and their approach to things, but his biggest weakness seems to be that he's unwilling to expend the political capital he's built up, and he seems unwilling to fight the fights that he was elected to fight.

I'm hoping that it's all focused on health care - that's the one big agenda item that has he has one opportunity to get right and I'm hoping he just doesn't want to create enemies while getting that done. But if he doesn't start fighting these other fights after that's finished, that will be very discouraging. The point of getting power is to use it to accomplish things, not just to have it for the sake of having it.

It already does give preferential treatment for those. At least for one part of the population. As long as it does for heterosexuals it should for homosexuals as well.

If you want to argue against laws that favor any type of marriage that's fine, but it's separate from the reality we have now. I can't help but notice that you only bring up your opposition to laws regarding marriages in threads that deal with homosexual marriage.

I admit that you haven't said anything about opposing homosexual marriage that is against homosexuals, but against preferential treatment for married folks in general. It's just that right now the law favors one segment of the population and discriminates against another segment. It's easier to apply the laws equally than to repeal all of the laws universally.

supporting a president who wanted to permanently change the U.S. constitution to forever discriminate against homosexuals, and claiming that his position is the same a president who opposes placing that discrimination into the U.S. constitution is also supporting justice denied.

Oh, it's way worse than that. Bush didn't want to defer justice; he wanted to make justice unconstitutional. And basso just cheered him on.
