Links please - as I recall you generally answered any criticism of you beloved W by trying to distract people with something irrelevant, like starting a thread entitled "Sean Penn is not a hero to gay americans"

Thanks for the link - so that we are clear, this is you being "equally critical"? Because this doesn't look equal w/regard to your treatment of Obama on this issue. Should I provide some links so that you can compare?

It's difficult to keep all his insane rantings straight but I'm pretty sure he also said that Bush was the most pro-gay president ever (because of tax cuts or something like that?). And, of course, as FB keeps bringing up (with no response - surprise!), he insists that there's no difference between a president that wants to ban gay marriage in a Constitutional amendment and one who opposes exactly that.

Bush was, of course and in fact, the worst president on gay rights in this country's history and basso enthusiastically supported him, called him the best prez on gay rights and then said there was no difference between him and Obama (who actually has been the best president on gay rights even though I'm been badly disappointed by him not going further or faster on that issue).

I honestly don't know why any of you keeps replying to him on substance. He lies, ignores challenges and/or runs away every time.

 

Others have beaten me to it but I don't recall you being particularly critical of the previous Admin and you have seemed to go after the current Admin. with particular vehemence on this issue.

That aside besides your posting style I have no reason to dislike you.

 

Bush did make this claim - at least using your warped interpretation thereof.

How has Obama been hypocritical on this issue? His position has always been clear and consistent. Civil unions and legal protection -- but no joining the club.

Some of his defenders have been hypocrital. And GWB was supremely hypocritical in that he was on record as being in favour of civil unions -- yet he still pulled the constitutional stunt to fan discontent and capitlize on fear/hate/bigotry.

 

How so? Seems he uses his catchphrase "let me be perfectly clear" when he natters on about a marriage being between a man and a woman. Which he does frequently.

 

It's not perceived, and it's more than just thread count. You are 800-thread count Egyptian cotton on one side vs. nylon on the other.

Yes you can infer that to an extent, it's a low priority for me but sure they can legalize gay marriage and I would easily vote for it. Or they could outlaw all marriage. I don't care THAT much about it and think that it will eventuallly happen anyway...I think other issues though are more pressing.

Edit: I should add that, however, it would probably be a bigger issue for me if a candidate I supported came out with the odious suggestion that not only should it not be legalized - but it should be prevented by means of constitutional amendment. That personally would probably ratchet up my awareness of the issue.
