I'm not going to go through the whole thread again to see if you addressed this, because frankly some of the posts disgust me, but you do know that Obama always opposed gay marriage right?

Perhaps BJ is right and that I am too polite but for what its worth I stand by my opinion and I was apologizing for dragging this out. I stated my piece and that should've left it at that. As much as I felt there was no need to personalize things between BJ and LL it ended up getting more personal between BJ and myself.

Congrats on seeing your kid off to school. May I ask which school?

I believe the tide of history is against homophobia and years from now we will look back and think of how foolish the whole debate over Gay Marriage was. People will always hold onto their beliefs and seek to pass them on. That doesn't mean that their children or they themselves won't change.

So you know, though it may seem that way, I'm not a bomb thrower. I just freely express my thoughts and views without regard for toning down my sincere passion. Some people, here and in the real world, are put off by this, sure. But most aren't. I have as many or more friends than anyone I know and the vast majority of them appreciate being treated with honesty. If I met LL in person and learned what he was teaching his children I would tell him to his face first that I considered it abusive and second why I found it abusive. And I guarantee you we would have a productive discussion about it. Even here, on the internet without the benefit of nuanced tone and eye contact, we aren't leaving this thread as blood enemies -- only as people who sincerely disagree.

For all the admonishments from various quarters that I "go to far" or should "tone it down," I don't count a lot of the posters on this board as enemies. I've met and hung out with more than 50 posters on this board (they'll all tell you there's no difference between me online and offline) and with the exception of that sociopathic nutjob basso, I consider them all friends.

I am also polite for the most part. I just don't let the holy grail of politeness water down my sincerely held ideals. But it's very rare that those ideals, sincerely expressed, loses me a friend.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you next time you're in Houston. First one's on me.

You were not. Sam already called you out on the issue. Furthermore you claimed there was no difference in his position and that of our current president.

It has been pointed out to you numerous times the huge difference. One wanted to change our constitution to make it illegal for same sex marriage to ever be recognized in the U.S., and the other is against amending our constitution on that issue.

For you to claim they are the same shows your lack of concern for the issue, or perhaps you can't even perception of what those issues are.

You are so far out of the stratosphere as far as being on the side of gay rights that it is laughable for you to voice your "support" for the issue.
