I've got family in Edinburg (ramseyer rd.), some distant relatives in Pharr, Harlingen, Edcouch, Elsa, criscoKidd and Falcons. I called some of them and they're staying put, reporting light to heavy rain. My hometown of Reynosa will get hit with underside of spinning winds . I know the northern side will get the faster winds, like Edinburg, So. Padre, etc. Thank you for that video.
I have family down there and haven't heard from anyone since yesterday...I'm assuming everything is fine just rain...
My son is in McAllen, they were building a house in Reynosa. I just talked to him, he said lots of rain so far, but not much else. They are hoping to be able to go back on Thursday and Friday and finish the house.
Yawn...just came in from making barbq and eating...I'll throw out the video in a bit. The power flickered once...Very uneventful so far. Kids do not seem worried in the least. They were excited to ride this storm. We bought Honey Buns because my kiods wanted the "little Hurricanes" for breakfast... I think I'll take a nap in a bit...
The forecast and models were very accurate with this one. When the storm was just a disburbace near Jamaca over the weekend this is about the spot it was projected to hit.
No, i just like the buzz it generates. Plus, im in Sugar Land. Just wind and rain. I like storms. I'm weird.
We need the LBAR model to come to pass and bring some rain up here to the DFdub... We're in some serious drought.
similar, until rita made me wet my pants. people in the valley and central texas really needed rain. hopefully this won't cause too much damage.
We're about an inch away from applying for state/federal ag dept disaster relief for our ranches up here (Blanco, Burnet, Llano & San Saba counties). We're just about down to well water on 3 of our places & just sold off a bunch of animals that we'd have loved to keep, but there will be just about zero grass & surface water here in a few weeks. The water table here is not in good shape at all (thank you, Austinites & weekend vanity ranchers). Hope everybody on the coast makes it out of this with minimal trouble, but just about anything that would bring us some rain is welcome.
Forecast tracks have dramatically improved over the last 10 years. But, intensity forecasts are still way off, unfortunately. From five days out, the NHC track forecasts are outstanding.
I had the intensity down right by the time Dolly was in the Gulf of Mexico. There is something about me that, I can tell when the media or the NHC is over or understimating a particular storm. I have become good at that over the years. I predicted it to intensity right before making landfall, which it just did. Bottom line is that I can usually see right past the mistakes that the media or the so called experts sometimes make regarding the intensity or the movement.
