They probably want to kick down the doors and arrest them for THINKING about themselves naked.

War is Peace. Ignorance is Strength. Freedom is Slavery.

Outrageously stupid. Sexual abuse of yourself?

Does this mean that a 16 year old who beats the meat can now be charged with statutory rape?

    Idiotic.

Thank GOD they are spending all that time and money on something so important. Since all the crime, terrorism and violence in the world have now been eliminated, its good to see our government set its sights on something really harmful like p*rn. Nobody watches it anyway.

i don't have a big enough rolleyes icon for this one

    The blockbuster/walmart dvd player:
    http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/04/07/BUGLL61GFQ1.DTL

Wal-Mart and Kmart, two of the nation's biggest retailers, are planning to sell a new DVD player that includes a technology that has riled Hollywood -- a controversial program that can automatically skip sexual content, graphically violent scenes and language deemed offensive.

The new DVD player, manufactured under the RCA brand by Thomson Inc., comes as public debate is heating up over whether the media have pushed the limits of decency, especially after too much of singer Janet Jackson was bared during this year's Super Bowl halftime show.

RCA plans to start shipping the DVD player in the next few weeks. It is scheduled to be on shelves at Wal-Mart and Kmart in the next two months at a suggested price of $79, said Dave Arland, Thomson's vice president of U.S. corporate communications and government relations. Wal-Mart's version will be black while Kmart's will be silver.

This is very smart. We all know that if kids can't watch DVD's with sexual, violent or potty mouth content, then the problems facing the youth will go away.

Is there an option to watch only the deleted scenes? You know... for all the grown up and mature folks....

Here's the trifecta of anti-p*rn news.

speaking of which, i will now have to drive around Tennessee.

    http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/strange/040604_ap_sn_porn.html

Watching porno movies while driving may be banned
    April 6, 2004 (Nashville) — A license to drive isn't a license to view p*rn.

That's the thinking of lawmakers in Tennessee who are considering a ban on mobile X-rated entertainment. The state Senate has already passed the measure.

If the House follows, Tennessee would be the first state in the nation to outlaw so-called "drive-by p*rn."

The measure would impose a $50 fine for viewing porno movies in a car while in traffic. Republican Mark Norris is sponsoring the bill. The state Senator says DVD's turn cars into a "rolling projection booth" for p*rnography. But critics charge the bill doesn't define what would be considered an obscene mobile movie.
    ---------------------------------

there are so many jokes that can be made about this that its not even funny.

why is this country so g*oddamn uptight about this stuff?!? like someone else said, hiding and banning it from children will do nothing but make the kids want to see it even more.

if i had to pick just one person in this administration that i hated the most, it would be asscroft, hands down.

i truly cant believe these are real, actual stories.

    BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.

God, Ashcroft is an embarassment to the conservative movement.

Someday there's going to be a political party that's fiscally conservative (including restraint on government spending), internationally aggressive, and socially moderate to liberal (OK on gay marriage and abortion, downright enthusiastic about p*rn), and we're going to punk both the Democratic and Republican parties.

It's unfortunate that the Republicans in charge are only one of the three things you mentioned.

    Lets get that party started.

I'm so sick of the big 2.

The need for a practical/powerful 3rd party in this country has never been greater. A party concerned with personal freedom, not run by corporate america, whose only concern is bigger profits.

I'm really hoping Kerry can somehow persuade McCain (assuming he wants him) to be his VP. I think with McCain playing a strong role in the new administration, which seems to be the trend for VP's, that we would see, not only an aggressive foreign policy, but an intelligent one. We sure don't have that now. Kerry and McCain would be a nice balance of philosophies, in my opinion.

Maybe I should run this year. Looks like I've already got more votes lined up than Lyndon LaRouche.

Damn you, clause 5 of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.

Well you've got one enemy at least already. That's the last thing I'd vote for in each of the respective arenas. It seems to me though that such a splinter from the Republican party is inevitable.

Is that an age thing? Or were ya born in a foreign land? It's true, isn't it? Your name is pronounced "kah-zhee!"

Anyway, I would vote for you or for Buck, no problem. I thought Buck was going to run.

    An amusing (and depressing) fact:

    Ashcroft considers dancing a sin.

Ashcroft, like a lot of other people in the Bush administration, is not a conservative. He is a radical.

    Eat it up:

Understanding John Ashcroft starts and probably ends with the Assembly of God, the evangelic Christian sect that spawned him. In his autobiography, Ashcroft said he woke every morning to a "magisterial wake-up call" of his preacher-father's noisy prayers.

Among the Assembly of God's teachings: Homosexuality is evil and causes disease; Christians should not make friends with non-Christians; people should avoid all "sexually suggestive forms of media and entertainment"; speaking in tongues is a necessary component of salvation; Jesus isn't just coming, he's coming to take over the world; mixed-gender dancing leads to evil and should be avoided; and government and laws should be predicated on the teachings of the Christian bible.

Some verbatim quotes from the Church's teachings include:

    * "The spread of oriental religions and the occult in America has brought with it an increase in demon possession similar to that reported formerly by missionaries on foreign fields. All too often there has been too little teaching in this area."
    * "All believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever."
    * "The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. At that time many in the nation of Israel will recognize and accept Him as the Messiah, the Savior who died for them and all mankind."
    * "The Assemblies of God calls youth and singles to refrain from all forms of sexual intimacy until marriage. Such actions would include prolonged sessions of kissing, words of unique expression, actions of intimate caressing, and partial or total nudity."
    * "Unfortunately, many today mislabel those who speak out against the sin of homosexuality as hate-mongers and prejudiced people seeking to oppress and take away the rights of homosexuals. But these persons view homosexuality from a skewed social perspective devoid of true biblical morality."
    * "Generally it is risky for Christians to build deep friendships with those who do not share a spiritual bond in Christ. If the friendship has no deep spiritual unity, it is then based on secular values, material interests, and views of the world. In such instances the negative spiritual toll on the Christian is significant as ones spirit is constantly dulled through repeated exposure to worldviews and ideas. Few Christians are able to live consistent holy lives when unequally yoked in deep friendships with unbelievers."
    * "The alarming shift from a Judeo-Christian philosophy to secular humanism as the foundation of American government has created profound problems for all Bible-believing churches. More and more, government is defying biblical principles and interpreting sinful behavior as civil rights, i.e. abortion and homosexuality. The church as the body of Christ is obligated to respond."

Yes the man is nucking futs.
