Me and my friend were discussing these two. Which is the more wrong? Finding human beings at their worse [poverty, insanity, drug/alcohol abuse, etc] and making them fight for a sandwich or Fighting Dogs to the Death Rocket River
I've seen the Bum Fights video. The fights are pretty crappy, and they are all staged. You can find better street fights on Youtube. The Bum Hunter part of the video is the real price of admission for the video. The Bum Hunter is a parody of the Crocodile Hunter except a guy who looks like Steve Irwin goes around capturing and studying homeless people while they sleep.
I think both are abhorrent, but the bums have a choice and the dogs don't. Also, the dogs die, while the bums don't (outside of an episode of Boston Public). Even given all of that, I have to say Bum fights are worse, because people are more important than dogs.
it depends. If it's a white dude getting the bums to fight, not a problem. if it's a black dude getting the dogs to fight, send him to jail. there, you got the answer you were fishing for.
i don't think there's anything wrong with bum fighting since both participants are willing. if two people want to fight, let them. that's what boxing and UFC is around - and that's legal. I actually not sure if dog-fighting is really that bad. If the dogs are trained and actually grow to enjoy it then that's that. Killing them is wrong though. And betting on them is clearly illegal.
That's terrible. First of all the bums are induced to fight each other by people offering them stuff. Secondly, you think the dogs grow to enjoy it? Do you realize how badly they get hurt in these fights?
Dogs are so willing to please their masters and so afraid of being beaten again that they'll fight to the death against another dog. Most homeless people are mentally ill, hungry, and addicted to alcohol (at least). I think we should make the people who run dogfights and the guys who make money from bumfight videos fight each other.

Texas Stoke hit the nail on the head. This is yet another thread by Rocket River in which he wants to make everyone believe that a black person was unfairly singled out and punished for a behavior. YAWN Moving on to the farce of a question that was posed, dog fighting is worse simply because it is pre-meditated cruelty which spans the course of years, as dogs are trained to be so hungry/agitated/insane that all they want to do is kill another dog. Is bumfighting good? No. But do people orchestrate complex gaming functions around it, investing millions of dollars? No. It's a small youtube phenomenon that doesn't come close to approximating the size and scope of organized dogfighting. The fact that some blacks (directly or indirectly, such as this thread) implicitly endorse or elevate dogfighting makes this even more ridiculous.
