I don't necessarily believe you, but this would make sense. With Tracy, you always have to think there might be a mental issue bothering him. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
If it's a mental issue maybe he should sit out the real games and come back for the All Star game (and almost win the MVP of the game) like he did in 2005-2006. That sure showed his commitment to the Rockets.
Except this happens every season. S*** happens to everybody. You know, Tracy is a grown man. I think its time to act like one, dont you think?
This goes for every player, when dealing with a injury, they should never listen to team doctors. Never without a 2nd opinion. There is a reason they're called team doctors. They're really for what's best for the team. Go ask Grant Hil, go ask Shawn Merriman. Teams doctors to merriman he could play. Dr. Andrews told him he could damage his career. You always listen when your talking long term. If he needs the time, give him the time. No one is talking about Battier and him missing games eventhough he's not going to be a offensive option.
McGrady doesn't get the benefit of the doubt because he's mentally soft. At this point team doctors probably DO know better than McGrady. Whether their paid officials of the team or not, it doesn't matter. Doctors of team > McGrady and his fragile psyche.
Did you know the Rockets owe McGrady another $20+ million NEXT season? What incentive do they have to risk worsening the injury? None.
tracy has had a long history with injuries (remember what the back did to him mentally). he's really sensitive when it comes to injury b/c he's always expecting the worst and extremely pessimistic (remember the back doctor said tracy is the most pessimistic person he ever met). so i don't doubt that tracy really is pessimistic right now. i think he just needs a doctor (hence a 2nd opinion) that tells him, hey you're going to be ok. and just give him a treatment plan. he has distrust with the team's doctors b/c they failed him in the past. so he just needs reassurance. if you're an athlete like tracy and knowing your level of play, and injuries are always messing with you, it does mess with your mind. we're not in his shoes. we don't suffer injuries like him constantly. he'll come back fine like he did from the back. but yes, injuries do mess with his mind so mentally, he's not there right now. once it clears up, he should be fine. we just gotta stay patient.
you can't say that. last yr, the team docs said his knee was fine and is just sore (yet it fact it was injured). and they clearly didn't know what to do with the back. the team doctors have failed him in terms of his own injuries. if it was me, i'll get a 2nd opinion before listening to them.
How was his knee injured? I thought all indications were that it was structurally sound. I hope you're not going to say that his arthroscopic surgery was indicative of an injury.
i think that tracy don't care about the regular season anymore, hes wating for the playoffs to do the thing that he been criticized of not doing it in his intire career.
Did you know grant hill had his career ruined because he listened to a team doctor? In case u just started watching basketball, they're called "team doctors." They paid by the Houston Rockets and always have the best interest of the "team." Players are mini corporations and have to act accordingly. Lets rewind to Grant Hill. It was the playoffs and he turned a ankle. Now this was a man that was basically injury free and one of the best players in basketball at the time. Its crucial for him to play and the doctors told him as long as he can deal with the pain, it should be ok. He played on basically a broken ankle that dereailed a hall of fame career. The man was a walking triple double. That's your team doctors. Don't know if you follow pro football, but one of the most dominant pass rushers in the league was coming back from a knee injury. Because of looming free agency and some of the contracts recently given out, management and team doctors told him he could play. He wanted to but wanted another opinion. He went to the famed alabama dr andrews and he told him to shut it down. The team soctors said he could play, the independent doctor said he's done. I could go on and on, but you get the point. Hell Hakeem had a fallout with the team doctors in 92. He said his hammy was sore, management said he was faking it. The next summer , they almost traded him for 2 good players in Seikley and glen rice , but they thought better. Player thinks one thing, team doctors think another. The player have to look out for players and the team has to look out for the team. When yao went out last yr and think it was team doctors telling him to play. Had he really known which was noticible before he went with the actuall injury, he couldve prevented the season ending injury.
What he said. so shut up everyone. Hop on the bandwagon and support our team, and players. You all are doing nothing but being negative fans for a GREAT team who NEEDS support instead of horrible criticizm.
The football analogy doesn't apply at all. They have a history of grinding players into the ground because their financial stake is limited. When Grant Hill was with the Pistons, IIRC, it was his last season in Detroit and the team had no financial stake. Plus it was the playoffs as opposed to the regular season. Regarding Hakeem, blast me if you want, but I don't think his hamstring was hurt like he said. "The Rockets did what they had to do and now I will." Etc. Last season, it was team doctors that shut Yao down the minute his injury was diagnosed. Why? Because they have a huge financial stake in him. Same thing with McGrady. The Rockets have everything to lose if he aggravates his injury by playing now. Team doctors aren't always right, but there is zero reason to be suspicious of their motives regarding Tracy. If this was the last year of his contract and the playoffs were involved, you would expect the team to want Tracy to risk himself. Not now though.
The Rockets should stop babying him Make him play through the injury...make him come off the bench and go against bench players to get his confidence up If he can't shoot, make him play defense there are loads of other things he can do instead of scoring..so at least you're getting something out of him
I figured it was something personal with him. I wanted to bring this up yesterday and when I was riding on him but thought it was a bit much. Didn't he also have personal issues going on as well when the back was such a problem? Maybe he should just sit. Marbury him, just move on already.
no, i was referring to how the team doctors failed him last year when they failed to diagnose his knee injury until a month into it. so i think that's why there's a distrust between tracy and the team doctors. so that's why i don't think he's following the team doctors' plan of playing and getting better at the same time. he's not injured right now. his knee is simply weak and still is sore. so i think he just has doubts about the progression of his knee and just wants a 2nd opinion. i think after the monday's meeting with the new doctor, a lot will be resolved.
actually yao complained about his foot a month before they shut him down and had surgery. so once again, our team doctors failed to properly diagnose the players. i'm sure the team cares a lot about tracy's injury. but you can't just go by your team doctors' assessment and let it be an end-all and be all. what's wrong with getting a 2nd opinion? tracy is not happy with the way he's progressing. so let him have a 2nd opinion. he wants to get back to 100% with the knee. the playing your way back is not working. let's see what the new doctor has to say. if he says the same thing, then tracy will stick with it. if not, try the new way. but please, the team doctors have been extremely poor in managing our 2 stars.
Should Yao get an X-ray every time he feels pain in his foot? Sore feet are part of playing in the NBA. I'm not saying the Rockets doctors are perfect but I don't blame them for Yao missing a chunk of last season. If getting a 2nd opinion puts Tracy's mind at ease, fine. Let's get it over with. I'm sick and tired of the day-to-day drama. If the 2nd opinion is the same as the first, I want him to suck it up, shut up, give it his best with the pain and play within his abilities. I wish he weren't such a drama queen.
Does Tracy have the will power to come back? You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Agreed. Let him get second or third opinions. Take your time to find yourself, no hurry Tracy, no pressure, Don't worry about your team they'll be fine, remember this is only the best team you've ever had. But keep in mind not to feel bad if leave you behind.
