No offense to Clutch, but Clutch has been saying the same thing since Segun was drafted. Sengun has cleared every single time he has been doubted. Im not worried. Sengun likes to be pushed. Im a Silas hater, but the best thing he did was bully Sengun into a better player after all his bullshit lob threat bad defender garbage.

If Sengun starts the season on the bench, it will be for a good reason under Ime. Sengun the type of player who wants to be the player his coach wants to play. It's a meritocracy. let Sengun earn it like everyone else. Ime not the type of coach to bench a good player.

Ultimately that’s all that matters. I will be a little disappointed if some players are given a longer leash

The part about just easily trading him for Zion if possible also totally irks me.

Zion doesn't even like basketball. He barely played. Sengun is a much more creative player, with much higher basketball IQ. If "the front office" undervalues him so much that they would easily throw a kid that deeply cares and has the potential to become a similar player to Jokic away to get an overweight, injury-prone knucklehead who doesn't give a a **** about basketball, then, again, I question their judgment.

As a die-hard Rockets fan since 1995, that lack of judgment in "the front office" actually makes me sad.

You lucked into a gem of a player, and then you treat him like that?

Without work ethics, Sengun would not win MVP at young age.

    I don't believe that BS.

That's what i'm saying by he hates him. No shot they would "easily" trade Sengun for a 29 game dude lol. Like i'd like us to get Zion and i would geniunely consider sending Sengun there for Zion but no way that's an easy decision to make.

I'm not worried about Sengun persevering and overcoming any challenge. I am deeply convinced that he is just to good for anyone to keep him down, and I trust Udoka to be fair.

As a Rockets fan, what worries me is that "the front office" might do something utterly stupid and trade him away - and then he becomes a near Jokic-level player elsewhere.

If I were a "Sengun only fan", at this point, I would welcome a trade, because it clearly appeara that "the front office" doesn't appreciate him as much as they should.

But I'm a Rockets fan, and that's why this worries me, instead of making me happy.

Right. If he was, he wouldn’t be connected he’d be the source.

Rockets have bad reputation of developing young talents. Just look at Wenbayama's reaction about Rockets didn't get 1st pick.

I hope it could change under Ime Udoka.

Great post. This would make a lot of sense.

Still doesn't take away my concern about "the Rockets front office" not seeing what a unique talent they lucked into, and appreciating that.

Yeah I'm not super confident in our FO. They've proven that they are good at tanking, but that's all we know at this point.

I agree with the other person on the podcast. I don't see a reason to pursue Lopez. It's just not a good fit at this time. Lopez is too good to come play backup here, and Sengun is too good to put on the bench right now.

The counterargument to that, I suppose, is that there is literally no other big man out there who we could get who could help us. And that is true as well. So, I don't know. We aren't in a great spot.

Right, and now after being the best player on the team by almost every metric, they don’t like him?
    That makes no sense

Correct, but I don't think they expected him to be as good as he is.

It seems like they are still treating him as a throwaway, compared to Jalen and Jabari. They never wanted to feature him, he just turned out to be much better than they thought, and they are still undervaluing him.

I’m not understanding the controversy here, it is a plus to bring in competition at the center or any position. I believe Sengun will outplay any free agent center they bring in.

For sure. Competition should be the goal. Just make sure it’s consistent across the board.
And to be fair, Lopez would be the best player on the team right now

If Senguns work ethic is bad I wonder how bad Jalen and Jabari’s is :D
