Once Ime has a chance to actually coach Sengun I suspect he will be thoroughly impressed. The front office may not be on the Alpi bandwagon but I bet Ime gets on it quickly next season.

He already said something yesterday or so that some players are even better than he thought. Not sure whom he was referring to, but...

Because he’s the ultimate role player glue guy type. Long, athletic and once he finds some consistency he’s the perfect 3-4 piece on any team.

I think Alpi is a hard worker but I did find it interesting that in his two seasons so far he's the only player I can remember out multiple times for reasons "illness" and outside of covid I never seen that for anyone. maybe it's just allergies?

I don't think people said Tari was superstar special, merely that he was special role player.

Didn’t say he couldn’t get better, I know he can. He doesn’t have star potential though

Which is a guy that’s replaceable. You saw Bridges get traded and Tari most likely won’t ever be on his level

It doesn't seem likely to me that the front office doesn't like Sengun. It was the front office that traded two first round picks to get him. I know the team has done things like put Theis before him, then Bruno - but are we sure that's the front office? Seems like that may have been Silas. Now, with defense being people's primary criticism of him, I could see him not being a Udoka kind of guy. We'll see.

If they don't like him though, they really need to keep that to themselves and get as much as they can in trade for him now while all of these MVP's and all-stars are praising him. If they continue to diminish his role it will hurt his value. And mind you, I don't want to see Sengun traded. He's my favorite player on the team not named Josh Christopher. But if we don't properly value him then I hope they do send him somewhere that they do.

I’m not saying he’s untouchable but it would take a lot for me to give him up.

The graveyards of the world are full of people who considered themselves irreplaceable, but what is not to like about Tari? He seems like a great guy, hustles his ass off, seems like a good teammate, and his mom is super passionate and entertaining. I love having him on the Rockets.

That’s fair and I agree. He needs to work on not being so wild and out of control

To tell you all the truth, it is not Sengun who we should be worried about but the organization.

In the public's eye they were a mess the last 3 years, Tilman pressuring everyone to win a lot more games now.

So yes, the FO has a problem, it is the FO who is the problem.

This should be concerning. The team is not ready and will not be in the foreseeable future.

I never trusted Silas and frankly don't trust Stone/Fertitta. But hiring Ime was a huge step in the right direction and he's the only member of the Rockets I've trusted to do the correct thing in a long, long, LONG time. I think the last time I felt trust in this franchise was when CP3 got here. Everything has been downhill after the hamstring. So whatever Udoka decides is fine by me. If he benches Sengun for Lopez, cool. If he benches Jalen for KPj, cool. If he trades KPj for potato chips, cool. Not saying this is the case but there are players who "show up" for games off of talent alone (Vince Young) but don't put in the work necessary elsewhere to improve. This could be the case with Sengun and again....will defer to the coaching staff on this. As I think most fans should. Unfortunately if/when something happens with any of these players, we're going to have a select few posters with the "I told you sos" and it'll just get more toxic from there.

Just use your brain, it seems like some fabricated reason for people who are against Alpi to pile on him.

Sengun was not even in the US this whole time, how could Udoka possibly know how he worked out in Turkey?

Even if he came to the conclusion that his workout in Turkey was beyond bad, I do not think he is dumb enough to leak it to the outside about it or at least talk to the staff about it this early into the season.

Maybe his workouts were not satisfactory to him, that should be discussed internally first.

At the minimal off chance which I do not believe that Alpe became a douche in the last months, that is on me.

May I ask why you trust Ime so much? He’s only been a head coach one season. I have good feelings about him and what I think he will bring to table, but so many here act like we just hired some longtime head coach with a proven track record. He has less total coaching experience than Silas had coming to Hou.

They believed in him so much, they traded away a solid player mainly to make playing time room for him

The only way they are expressing any negativity towards Alpi is via @Clutch. I suspect that all of this is more Clutch injecting his personal feelings. He truly does not like Sengun. It is obvious. He left the article about Bruno starting over Sengun as the main article on the Clutchfans main site the ENTIRE season. That was not an accident. Clutch may be connected as the #1 superfan but he does not dictate team policy. Sengun will continue to shine so they will have no choice but to play him. I think Ime will love him.

I think you missed my point, or maybe you’re making it for me here with Jabari, but yeah, I agree. I don’t think we should be shopping 2s or 4s. Jabari has shown enough promise that he should be allowed to thrive rather than being supplanted by a veteran that may result in more wins. I think sengun has earned the same.

It will be interesting to see how Ime handle Jabari. I suspect he has a bright future as a 3 & D player but he displayed little 3 & D last year. If Ime truly makes players earn playing time Jabari will have to produce. Sengun will flourish in a merit system based on performance.
