.It bothers me, if there is nothing else, it makes all of these seem like a big waste of time.

    Dakota.

Since it is all a big waste of time for you, can you give me about $25,000.

PS, it bothers me, too, but I could enjoy the money

It's not a waste of time, on the contrary, it make your life invaluable; to you anyway.

25k does not go very far these days......but I think I will give it to my kids now that they don't have to pay estate taxes on it.

    Slip Inside This House

    Bedoine in tribes ascending
From the egg into the flower
    Alpha information sending
    States within the heaven shower
    From disciples the unending
    Subtleties of river power
They slip inside this house as they pass by

    If your limbs begin dissolving
In the waters that you tread
    All surroundings are evolving
In the stream that clears your head
    Find yourself a caravan
    Like Noah must have led
And slip inside this house as you by

In this dark we call creation
We can be and feel and know
    From an effort-comfort station
    That's surviving on the go
    There's infinite survival in
    The high baptismal glow
Slip inside this house as you pass by

There is no season when you are grown
You are always risen from the seeds you've sown
There is no reason to rise alone
Other stories given have sages of their own

Live where your heart can be given
And your life starts to unfold
    In the forms you envision
In this dream that's ages old
    On the river layer
    Is the only sayer
You receive all you can hold
    Like you've been told

    Every day's another dawning
Give the morning winds a chance
    Always catch your thunder yawning
Lift your mind into the dance
Sweep the shadows from your awning
    Shrink the four-fold circumstance
    That lies outside this house
    Don't pass it by

    Higher worlds that you uncover
Light the path you want to roam
    You compare there and discover
You won't need a shell of foam
    Twice-born Gypsies care and keep
The nowhere of their former home
They slip inside this house as they pass by

Four and twenty birds of Maya
    Baked into an atom you
    Polarized into existence
Magnet heart from red to blue
To such extent the realm of dark
Within the picture it seems true
But slip inside this house and then decide

All your lightning waits inside you
    Travel it along your spine
    Seven stars receive your vision
    Seven seals remain divine
    Seven churches filled with spirit
    Treasure from the angel mine
Slip inside this house as you pass by

The space you make has your own laws
No longer human Gods are cause
The center of this House will never die

Draw from the well of unchanging
    And its union nourishes on
    In the right rearranging
Til the last confusion is gone
Water brothers trust in the ultimust
    Of the always singing song
    They pass along

    One-eyed men aren't really reigning
They just march in place until
    Two-eyed men with mystery training
    Finally feel the power fill
    Three-eyed men are not complaining
They can yoyo where they will
They slip inside this house as you pass by
    Don't pass it by

    Tommy Hall

Sorry, rhester. I thought he was replying to my "scripture" from Tommy Hall. If you read the lyrics closely, folks, you'll find it delves into several religions, in Hall's and the Elevators' unique way.

Not really. I like sleep, and that's probably what death is like: one big, black, dreamless sleep.

I would be bummed out if I couldn't have dreams in that Big Sleep. Of course, how would I know what I was missing?

What you could be asking about is immortaility.

Ask hyourself what is the fundamental unit to be maintained by natural selection? is it the individual, the species, or the gene. If you answered the gene, it opens up all kinds of possibilities. Humans don't survive. That you know. Genes do. It seems that Humans are just the vehicle by which the gene survives. Humans reproduce and die. Genes keep on keeping on.

The first thing you might ask would be, if the gene is the key in this equation, why doesn't it let the human body live, reproduce, and keep producing genes like a factory. There is a plausible explanation, but why even try to explain it. Why try to explain why the human body dies. We know it does. Therefor the gene needs this to happen. It thinks this is the most effcient way to do things. And without a doubt it's gotta be. The gene is doing pretty damn good. So forget expalining it. Simply know it happens.

We now have a simple formula for natural selection of the gene. For a gene, the main criterion that must be fulfilled or maximized in order to be naturally selected, is that its vehicle (individual organism) should survive long enough to be able to produce (numerous) offspring. No doubt about it. But now we know the variable in the equation. It's reproduction age. Alter that variable and the gene will need to reevaluate aging the vehicle. In other words, delay reproduction and the gene could allow for longer life spans. Or, it could select for another vehicle. Whatever.

That is the risk we take by messing with the variable, but if we were able to delay reproduction we could possibly delay aging.

The real question is how do we do that. Especially when the gene want us to have sex younger and younger. It selects for that.

Well I don't know, but it seems plausible to me, that if we can increase the age of reproduction in women using some technology then the gene will decide it needs to keep us aline longer to ensure its own survival.

So no, I'm not troubled, immortaility is possible, we just have to delay getting our woman pregnant at such an early age.

To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay there's the rub. For what dreams may come when we shuffle off this mortal coil?

Immortality in the true sense of never dying probably won't happen just because we wait to get knocked up till later in life. Women nowadays are already living longer lives because we're waiting to have children, but waiting too long has its detriments on the baby - for example women who become pregnant after the age of 40 are twice as likely to have a child with Downs than women younger than 40. Yes it will prolong our lifespan, but our bodies are designed to give out. Death is inevitable. We'd have to do a lot more than just prolong reproduction. We'd have to figure out a way to keep replicating DNA without replicating out of control... We'd have to control the expression of certain genes that have different impacts on different stages of the life cycle... We'd have to manipulate cell division cycles and repairing mechanisms... We'd have to figure out a way to get rid of the radical oxidants and all the other toxins in our cells... There'd be so much to figure out... It's just not realistic.
