Video games and the NBA are not even close to the same.

I dismissed one as not actually being an example, so you're down to 1 (Rudy). They came to you because it's a rare thing, and makes the news. Go find others if you think it's common place. Meanwhile, Van Gundy, Rick Carlisle, Bob Hill, and Eric Musselman et. al. will find new organizations.

So Van Gundy acted like a donkey, and it sways your opinion, and that's fine. But you think that makes it ok for Les to turn around and act like a donkey too?

Like I've said before, you don't like Van Gundy at all, and that clouds your opinion of all things involving him. You don't have to like him, and hell, he's gone now -- but at least recognize that.

If he didn't want him back, he should have just fired him. He didn't.

He could have also simply said, "We're going in another direction. We'll give you the opportunity to step down, or we'll have to release you." It didn't happen like that, either.

As you would say, Les comes out looking very unprofessional.

    only time will tell...

right now it seems to be a he-said she-said. in a few months we will be able to lookback and see exactly what happened and why.

    hindsight is always 20/20.

but morey's handling of this does make me uneasy. i don't think JVG would lie. and he basically has accused morey of lying about their conversations.

In a few months we will look back and go.....Who cares......

Jeff Van Gone-dy is no longer with us.....the Rockets are all that matter....not the coach.

I thought it's clear that the Rockets wanted to move to another direction, but they want JVG to announce he would "retire", instead of "firing" him. However, JVG really wanted to stay as the coach, so he didn't want to make that move.

According to both JVG and the Rockets, JVG knew Les didn't like his style of play, and suggested the team to look at other options. So why all of this become the Rockets' fault? I thought JVG is just as guilty during this whole mess.

If the owners hires a grumpy coach and asks him not be who he is, that's on the owner. That's bad management & leadership if you expect people to not be what they are.

Or you hire someone and they turn out to do a good job but overall they have a negative impact on your business, what do you do Major?

IMO, you fire them, and move on.

You are correct, and while grumpy is the perfect word for JVG, prickly describes Adelman pretty well. He may not be much of an improvement in the :) :) :) department unless he becomes something he isn't.

Except that's not what happened - which is precisely the problem. No one is complaining that JVG got fired.

ya but the issue is: was it handled right? and the answer is no. les and morey look like douchebags.

like JVG or not, the guy was pretty stand up. told it like it was. and even amidst all this he stayed classy and as you know was very complimentary of his time in houston.

is that too much to ask from morey and les?

the rockets are supposed to be better than that, the class of the league. this wasn't done right in my objective opinion.

ya - next year we won't care probably. unless we suck in which case i will be lobbying for JVG to come back!! :D

I wouldn't blame Morey... Les is the one who should have known better.

Morey got the important part right: hiring a good replacement the owner can work with. I'm happy with that and would let the PR stuff slip. It does get the Rockets laughed at by other teams.
