I wouldn't say 'just,' but you don't think his success can be attributable to anything other than his fabled work ethic and desire? I could work my ass off, but at 5' 7'', 140, I wouldn't be able to play for Duke or any other college team for that matter. You don't think there aren't countless players who worked their asses off more than Jordan but just never got a shot? Jordan has tremendous ability. Much of that was due to his own work ethic. Much of that wasn't.

We see things so much through the lens of individualism. We forget sometimes how much of who we are is do to circumstances beyond our control.

Moving back on-topic, I agree with DaDakota, and would like to add that for all the Bill Gateses, Vanilla Ices, etc., there are hundreds, thousands of similar people with similar talents in similar situations who didn't make it and are nobodies for all practical purposes and are just invisible to the public eye. A lot of it is just winning the lottery.

How would you like to be the last guy or gal cut from the F*r*i*e*n*d*s cast? I doubt they were seriously less talented than the idiots on there now--- compensated at $1 Million/Episode each this coming season.
