Representation matters. Another factor is a prosecutor's willingness to try for the death penalty instead of life, or perhaps his willingness to try a teen as an adult.... Plus, after a conviction, the burden of proof now falls upon the defense. So if someone crapped out on his 1st lawyer but found one 10 times better for an appeal, the odds are still even. Do you think there's a Black Jihad or something? What is your opinion on AIPAC, who gets the US to send billions and billions of taxpayer money in annual aid to Israel since the 70s?
The United States as a people and as a government has sent billions in humanitarian aid to scores of countries -- many of them in Africa and the Mid-East, including Israel. I don't see your point. Thadeus -- I apologize for not responding to your post. My time has been limited of late. Your arguments are generally more reflective and logical than the knee-jerk "is so, is not" responses. However, as I said before to other deaf ears, I am a proponent of humanity and the human kind rather than a champion of a particular race. To me, the people who go down that path tend to be far too sanctimonious and, ultimately, counter-productive to the advancement of mankind.
