No means no! Unless it means "know" then it means Patrick deserves credit for teaching Yao how to tip strippers.

You gotta give Thibodeaux credit RocketsMac. Read what the others have wrote. Tom has helped Yao a lot.

Bill Walton said that Yao has yet to be coached by a great coach. Take that as a stab at Ewing, or JVG, or both......

Walton's a goof, but he may be right.

Right on. Ewing sucked when Yao was not playing up to expectation. Ewing deserves no credit when Yao is tearing it up. You can't have it both ways, guys.

Give Ewing credit when it's due.

Yes you can. The logic was laid out a couple posts back.

When the Warriors played the Rockets, one of the announcers (Jim Barnett) said that Tracy McGrady sat down with Yao one day at Yao's restaraunt and had a chat with him. Apparently, T-Mac told Yao to "put this team on his shoulders and take over the reigns" or something like that.

If that is true, that probably merits more credit than Ewing does. I mean, Yao wasn't this good until his injury, but Ewing has been "helping" him for a long time.

After Yao came back from the injury, he was better than he used to be, apparently have T-Mac entrusted the role of leader to Yao, he has played great.

Man, those 2 were such a great pair to watch. :(

We'll see some more of 'em next season.

EDIT: Oh yeah I live in the Bay Area so that means I watched the Warriors version, in case you were wondering.

dont listen to what others have said.. just look at Thibodeaux during a game or when they interview him at half time... he always seems clueless and he says the same things every interview "we need to step up the defense and feed Yao more......".. I know that he worked with Yao in the summer, but Yao could be better ( I am not saying he aint good now) if he had a better coach..

That's a fair point and as a Ewing critic I will admit that I probably was too hard on him before. That said though the more I find out about Yao's coaching situation I'm more mystified by what Ewing did for Yao then or now.

Ewing might not be much of a factor in Yao's struggles or successes.
