he coached one of the best offenses this league has ever seen with nash's suns, so yeah he doesnt hurt fa's interest for this team

i mean we did get the best spot up shooter in history, according to those that rate player skill by money ;)

No on major free agents. It's James Harden. That's the asset. That's the magnet. He brings the big fish. I don't think free agents look his system and think to themselves I will win a championship because of him.

Yes for smaller fish running around the desert like iguana, because it's a better brand of basketball, they can enhance their stats here, and move their career.

    Agree.

Here's a cool quote from George during the time he played for team USA. He would go up against Durant and Harden in practice.

“James, he’s shifty. He’s good with his feet and creating opportunities off him using his speed. And KD has length. He knows how to uses his length to be effective and get space. You can’t get to his shot once he gets space,” George said, comparing the challenges in guarding each player. “We’re all great defenders and we probably won’t get a better defender to go at than those three guys, so that’s really improving our games. We all love the game of basketball.”

I think that Les made a very good hire and we have made as much improvement as reasonably possible given the miserable season last year. Remarkably we are going to become more attractive to free agents when it looked like it would be many years till that would be possible again.

Despite the McFrauden/Pringles clutch"fans" boobirds we are moving forward.

I dont think MDA in of himself is the deciding factor. Whether a player (FA) is attracted to becoming a Rocket more depends on:

    1) Team Winning
    2) Having Fun (do the players look like their....)
    3) Personalities (player)
    4) Does said player (FA) like their current situation and/or what dont they like about it and does Houston or the Rockets offer something better.

I mean, I would happily trade Ryan Anderson for him.

Strip Clubs. That's usually #1 on the list for Free Agents when they decide to sign here.

Part of the Rockets transition year is changing the narrative of this franchise from last year. There is a better "vibe" now. Players are having fun and playing hard. Harden is flourishing. Who knows how the team will end up doing, but the "optics" of this team are better, and thus puts the team in a better light for FA recruiting. Plus there is the Harden extension. It is all connected.

Most NBA players want to be more involved in any offense, and players know Dantoni gets his players involved. If they want to put up bigger numbers on offense then Dantoni is a good coach to play for. For that I think players will want to join the Rockets moreso.

I feel like after last season, no matter who got hired the fans would complain because they wanted to complain. MDA who had some success in his early years and did nothing later gave fans an easy excuse to complain. The only exceptions are Pop, Kerr, maybe Walton and Carlisle (who is overrated). Fans would have complained about anyone else for sure.

The only free agents that matter are the stars. We have enough role players that fit the system as it is. Unfortunately, there are no notable free agents next year, at least none that look like they'll leave their teams.

No chance of Curry and Durant leaving Klay and Dray to join Harden and the Rockets? :D

What about Blake, who hasn't done anything in LAC? CP3 once tried to sign with the Rockets. So did Lowry. Hayward can't be too excited about losing in Utah.

But yeah, 2017 will most likely be a quiet off-season where most players sign fat contracts to re-up with their teams. IF this team wins 50 somehow then it will be a team players want to join.

I agree. But to be fair, the Lakers were a mess from the jump and MDA never really had a training camp. The Knicks were injured. People don't take into consideration these things before they form their opinions. What I did is watch how the Suns used to play and compared Steve Nash's game with Harden's. They're actually VERY similar. The only difference is Nash's 3pt shooting & IQ was better, but Harden's WAY more athletic and he attacks the rim better. So I already knew Harden would be fine. Then when we hired Memphis's old defensive coach, I knew we'd be atleast a 5th-7th seed team. Nobody really gave MDA's system a chance

Yes, bit the Rockets are going to have to make some moves to be able to afford that tier of player.

Does MDA attract free agents? No. Does Harden playing this way in his system attract free agents? Have to think yes.

Davis would be perfect.. He would compliment Harden's game and he's like a Kevin Garnett jack of all trades big. Dude can play on the perimeter as well.

I love MDA just for making Rockets basketball fun to watch again.
Our offense last year almost gave me an aneurysm.
This year Harden going off every game... man... its literally unbelievable...

So outside of Warriors, Cavs, Spurs, nobody will attract any decent free agent? As far as I can see, Rockets is near the top of the list.
