Does Lin get forced to put up low percentage shots way too often?

I remember Harden did this to all the other rockets players all season long last year...

Is there any site that sorts out the amount of shots taken with a few seconds left? I'm curious to look at the actual stats instead of just using the eye test.

Yup, all the "fans" who aren't interested in winning in any sense of the word.

This is a hypothetical discussion that can't really be discussed meaningfully without fairly extensive shot analysis.

There is NO way you can say from general observation that Lin takes more or fewer lower percentage shots than anyone else, let alone argue that he's "forced" to do so.

If you really wanted to determine that, then you'd have to start pulling out some very specific data.

IE, shot locations on the floor, shot clock context, and contested vs uncontested shots.

In other words, unless someone wants to do the actual statistical legwork, it's not a question that can be answered in any meaningful way.

Is the GARM being destroyed by idiots creating redundant threads about one mediocre player? Yes. Yes it is.

    You LOF are disgustingly annoying.

Lins failures are on him. A man accepts his own responsibility.

I can not wait til Lins no longer on this team, thatll mean no more apologists like you around here.

If you pull up 82 games, under player stats they have a break down of shots taken under various parts of the shot clock.

    http://www.82games.com/1314/13HOU4.HTM

    For example,

According to Lin's shot clock distribution he takes 39% of shots at the 0-10s portion of the shot clock. 34% of his shots are in "crunch", which would typically be in the sub 3s or sub 2s range.

Now, for the sake of comparison if we pull out "crunch" shot distribution for the Rockets players, we get something along these lines...

    Lin 34% att, .459 eFG%
    Parsons 31% att, .474 eFG%
    TJones 38% att, .500 eFG%
    Howard 38% att, .505 eFG%
    Beverley 38% att, .420 eFG%
    Harden 29% att, .384 eFG%

    Asik 20% att, .364 eFG%
    Casspi 30% att, .476 eFG%
    Montejunas 32% att, .456 eFG%

So, if you were *just* going off "crunch" time shots, then Lin is probably about the middle of the road on the team. Tjones/Howard/Beverley appear to get the most crunch time shots.

Harden seems to shoot the fewest "crunch" time shots of the "heavy" rotation players. Now whether that's due to his not getting many late passes, or him passing the ball at the last second or both you can't really tell from this data.

Interestingly, this data seems to point to Harden as the Least effective person in terms of scoring if you give him a last second shot. Now whether that's due to his dribbling the clock down before shooting a contested shot, or him having trouble being accurate in last second catch and shoot situations, it's impossible to telll.

The data by itself doesn't tell us enough. You would actually have to break down the possessions and review video data to provide context to tell us something more meaningful.

That's just the way our current offense is set up. Either penetrate the paint or dish it in to D12 and then kick out to an open player if nothing's there. It's not like Harden is deliberately giving the ball to Lin with 2 secs left. LOL
