Non chain restaurants owned by Chinese families. I made a few threads about my week in Cleveland. I ate at P.F. Changs the night before i left. I was disappointed in myself, i was trying to do local. Well when i left i happened to run into a local Chinese restaurant. I think the food was better than the General Joe's Chopsticks standard but i realized they have those family style restaurants in other cities more. Houston obviously has ethnic family restaurants but i cant think of any Chinese restaurants.
There are a lot of them in Houston. Places like Chicago have more because there are more long term Chinese. Still Houston Chinese food is okay. Houston has the best Vietnamese food in the country. Just do a google search and places will pop up that see if chains. Chinese food from chains are mediocre to bad. Try the smaller restaurants.
Are you talking about American-Chinese restaurants that are not chains (like Sesame Chicken, Orange Beef, Kung Pao whatever?) or actual Chinese food? Mala Sichuan would be a good start if you are asking about the latter
Go to where Bissonnet intersects Telephone, next to the shark fin soup joint. Also, paging the go-to for H-Tine foodie info - @Jeff
Was just about to say this. Man's asking about real chinese food in Houston when there's a whole ass Chinatown in the SW part of Houston.
so says someone who has never been to Little Saigon in the City of Westminster, in the OC nor San Jose
I am sure they do, but like the majority of food in California, it is overrated. I enjoy the food scene in California quite a bit but many places there are over hyped due to location.
H Mart in Katy is like the most popular thing they've ever had. A night of Whiskey Cake + H Mart is like a Honeymoon vacation to yall Katy people. Lulz.
I have many close friends from China, huge dinner table invitation gathering is common with real Chinese non cantonese dishes, I prefer international style a lot more, to the point i pretend to be vegan: only carrot and cocaine please,no meat or fish for me
