No problem yet but these aren't the types of things I was hoping to hear the day after the news broke:

"We've still got to make sure there's still a commitment. That's the main thing, is to make sure there's still a commitment. When I speak to the powers-that-be of the Houston Rockets organization, we're going to find out how much they really want me there. We'll find out. I'm still waiting to find out if this is just a trade or if this is like a long-term commitment type thing. I haven't spoken to anybody yet. I'm still waiting."

"I understand what Yao said, but I'm still ghetto. That's not going to change. I'm never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don't think he's ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture. Once Yao Ming gets to know me, he'll understand what I'm about. Sometimes it's hard to get to know Ron Artest because I'm so down to earth to a fault. But once Yao Ming gets to know me, he'll understand what I'm about and that I'm a pretty intelligent basketball player. I know how to adapt. And all I have to do is play defense anyways, so I can't wait.
But really, he doesn't have to talk to me because to me I'm going. But if Yao Ming needs to talk to his general manager and talk to Tracy, then if they want me, I am going."

"He probably reads all the headlines and doesn't understand. He automatically believes all the propaganda. He probably should've called me first. But at the same time, it's Yao Ming's team. If he tells me to jump off the building, I'll jump off the building."

"I was a little bit thrown off by the whole Yao Ming thing. I called my dad, and my dad said, 'Ron don't worry about it.' I said, alright let's go."

Thanks for the good judgment Blinebury. Thanks a lot, you a-hole.

From my point of view, Yao has got the effect and response from Artest what he is exactly looking for in his earlier interview with journalists.

we may not lock him up at all. he could call off the trade the day before or in Ron Artest World the day after the trade goes through. I'm so excited we got him, but I'm already frustrated, he struck me as a complete idiot. Even more than I expected.

The issue is you don't outsmart Morey. It's impossible.

Morey hasn't made any bad signings or extensions yet. I will trust him to handle Artest's contract in the best possible way, even if it's to not give him one.

I know I'm not the only one here who's heart was beating with complete fear and uncertainty as every line of that interview unfolded in front of me. For some reason, I think I might need to get used to that feeling as this season unfolds.

I think the organization will do exactly that. I don't think they will offer him an extension but they will let him know they want him to be a part of the long term core.

I am sure Yao will respond and clear things up once he hears about the interview. It sounds like he wants to come here regardless which is good.

I f***ing despise journalists, radio personalities, whoever, when they take a little nothing and blow it up and twist it and try to turn it into an issue with the people involved.

All Yao said was that he's worried about building team chemistry. He didn't say, Hell with that hip-hop homeboy. He didn't say he can't play with Artest, he isn't trying to send a message. And he's on the other side of the globe, busy with the Olympics. It's not like he's gonna jump on his cell phone right away.

Yes, "culture"-wise, Tracy and Artest will have an easier rapport, but that's also overblown.

I just hope the media (and that includes godd***ed ESPN) covers Yao when he speaks into a microphone that everyone's twisting his words an intention around. Somehow I wonder if it will get the same coverage.

This right here is exactly what is wrong about the media. Forget reporting the facts....if what you say can induce a reaction out of someone, that is all that matters. This Sam Amick guy can smoke a pole.

As a Chinese Rockets fan, I would say. When I first read Yao's comments in Chinese, I didn't feel anything wrong. This is what Yao's very first response to the media on the deal about Ron. From the article I feel Yao is both excited and cautious. Maybe after the national games Yao would have a good communication with both Ron and media as well. Let's just wait and see.

I agree that the media is at fault, starting with our own Fran F***ING Blinebury but this wasn't a great choice of words by Yao either:

"There's worry. Obviously, yes," said Yao. "We will think about it, of course. Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands."

You don't want to feed the monster (I'm talking about the media not Artest) and that is exactly what Yao did here.

This is not much different than the Berkman comments after all the moves the Astros made this past off-season. I just hope there are no ramifications in this case as well.

    1. The whole locking him up long term thing scares me. I want to lock him up long-term, but if management wants to make him earn it, I'm scared how he'll react. Or, if he plays really well, we might end up paying more later for him than if we extend him now.

    2. Him saying "all I have to do is play defense and spot up for threes" scares me a little, because then he's basically Shane Battier, and his strength and ability to get to the hoop/ get to the line, allow him to be so much more than that. Don't settle Ron!

Everything else sounds GREAT! I'm not worried about the "Yao feud" at all. I felt Yao was wrong for his comments, but when they meet eachother and win some games, everything will be golden.

The rest of the interview is amazing (and funny). I'm gonna do great as a third option, it's Yao and McGrady's team, they don't need me, say the word and I'm there, I can't wait to play under Adelman, I can't wait to play with Yao, Mac, Battier, etc., let Shane start, tell me to jump off a building and I'm there, etc. He didn't seem to take offense to Yao's comments even. He said all the right things and then some as far as his role on the team is concerned.

Point #1 is my only true concern. So lock him up Houston!

I think there is one thing everyone need to understand about Ron Ron, don't look too deeply into what he says!!!!

If you try to analyze everything this guy says you will drive yourself insane. Keep in mind he's doesn't have much up there, so he's going to say many a things similar to this kind of crap. So lets all relax and just watch the show. There should be a ban on trying to analyze what RonRon says.......if not in the end he'll drive everyone crazy in here. :D
