Then who do you consider a deadly scorer? If you wanna talk about volume scorers they are Kobe, T-Mac. and AI. Francis does not shoot 20+ shots a game. The first half of last year he averaged 24 pts with a 45% fg%!! That is efficent scoring. Hes definitly a big scoring threat(or used to be a big scoring threat). I would rather utilize all our players to the fullest extent(same for yao also)!! Whe cant just waste yao's outside touch!!! Same with we cant just waste francis's scoring ability and athlitism for a job that most pgs with some court vision can do!!! THe rockets are only using 30% of his ability. He barely drives in anymore to draw fouls.

I think Francis can score 20+ a game easily in this system if he can make some minor adjustment with his game.

    1. Improve fast break skill.
The Rockets are not a good fast break team mainly due to Steve's inability to initiate the break. Steve is a great rebounder for his size, but he put too much emphasis in it that he often forgot his role as a PG. If Steve can reduce his role as a rebounder, concentrate more on initiating fast break, he'll get a lot of scoring opportunity for his teammates and himself.

    2. Improve plays away from the ball.
Right now, Steve is not very effective without ball. He seems always need to make several dribbles before take a shot. If he can learn how to make the spot-up shoot, more slash & cut; he'll score a lot easy points and open the game up for his teammates.

So, yes Steve can score more points in this system, but he needs to make some adjustment first.

farhan007, it's not important if SF can score 20ppg , but rather if he can shoot 48%. If Francis shoots 42%, but is getting 21ppg, then NO. I don't want that. If Francis can shoot 48%, he can score AS MUCH AS HE WANTS.

    Check out Peja's efficiency...FG% (49), 3PT%(42), FT%(91), REB(5.9), PPG(25) and TO%(2.0).

This guy is a super star in the making... http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3119/career

If he could run fastbreak then he has a chance. Otherwise, he will have to improve his jump shooting %. I don't want to see his iso plays any more than now because his % is too low with the zone defense and his personal show will cost us games. The part of offense he should focus on, besides passing, is taking high % perimeter shots without dribbling.

And I though only YOFs care about Yao's shots when he's not scoring well but the team is winning. :p

I was just thinking that he seems to finally be seeing the floor better. Last few games he's been running the offense more eficiently. Don't need a gunning Francis. With the defensive rebounding & heighth the Rox front line has they should be running a little more as good outlet passes should be plentiful. His stats would go up with some selective running. Of course he still needs help in his full court decision making.

What I am saying is because Francis is a volume shooter he needs to have a lot more shots to get a big score for the Rockets but he cant have this and be a Point Guard on the Rockerts. He needs to move to Shooting Guard and get more shots and more points!!

I don't care who lead the scoring as long as Rox wins. SF and Cat had to score as much as they could before Yao came here because someone else can NOT go shares in scoring.I'd much appreciated his courage of taking over Rockets on his back.

But many things have changed since Yao came here. JJ/Mo/Yao are all capable of scoring. Almost everyone here cann't deny Yao has such good skills and such great footwork that he has the potential to be a dominate player. We Rox will be a better team if we really get Yao involved instead of playing like individual show. SF need know how to play with such a big guy and make other teammates better blending together as a team.So we need him more assit/pass than scoring.
He can do himself justice if he makes some adjustment to JVG's mode. In fact, francis has done good job in recent games. He'll come around by and by,i think.
