so let me get this straight, we're criticizing a pf because he fouled steve nash. no i didn't see the end of the game
I'll eat my words soon? How about a tipjar wager? If the statistics I listed through the first 11 games change, I'll donate $100 to the tipjar. If they don't, you donate $1. Fair? As great as he played offensively, he killed our defense with his fouls on Nash late in the game, especially the 5th one. It doesn't matter if the refs were officiating poorly. Look at his 5th foul. It should've been obvious to him that Nash would beat him to the ball. As such, there was no reason for him to continue to pursue it. Because the Suns were getting pts from the free throw line and time was winding down, Ariza, Brooks, and Battier were forced to rush their offense to try to get quick points. That's why I can't blame them. True, but that doesn't absolve him of the mistakes he made.
Landry's 5th foul occurred on the Rocket's side of the court near the intersection of the baseline/sideline. The ball was bouncing towards the sideline with both Nash and Landry pursuing it from different angles. After Nash obtained clear possession of the ball, Landry ran into him (his 5th foul). The alternative would've been for Landry to go to the Sun's side of the court to play defense and force the Suns to score a basket through a half-court offense (as opposed to free throws).
Were you watching the game? Landry was pursuing the ball but never touched Nash. Joey Crawford was right there and made the dimwit call, but this was not Landrys fault! Nash was never touched.
He was touched(slightly) but Nash did exaggerate the call by flailing and swung his leg behind Landry. It was a foul nonetheless and a costly error at that juncture of the game. Landry had a great game offensively though.
agreed. it wasn't a foul until nash fell out of bound. but nash clearly beat him to the ball, so there was no need to give the refs a chance to blow the whistle. no biggie, though. on the other hand, we have threads calling ab a star, landry has the allstar potential... next i am gonna start a thread calling budinger roy candidate, lol.
Honestly, I would like to see Landry hold his own against top quality PF's. He can dominate any bench players he wants to. But if he really wants to be an All Star, he should be able to go toe to toe with Bosh, Boozer, West, Gasol,etc...
