I know you might assume I don't like scola, but I do. I don't let my like of a player override what I think makes the most sense for the rockets. What the pressure and development of landry does is gives the rockets leverage. There might be the situation playing out as we speak. The decision as to whether we should pay a 30 yr old 6m per and sacrifice the 26 yr old with upside and production is real. Its no different than what utah did this summer with milsap. Its real and has to be explored. I can't help it that u take it as dumping scola,im just expressing what I think and what I would be thinking about.
Do you think Adelman should start Landry? He's a third year guy, and he's 26. This is the year he should be taking the next step.
There's no reason why we can't keep both for next year. I doubt there's a trade out there that brings back more than what Scola brings to the team.
I do worry about the team being able to keep Landry. I remember there was much wrangling by his agent after his rookie contract expired, and the Rockets basically held out on him because of his injury situation at the time. He grudgingly accepted his current contract, and I'm pretty sure he knows how good he is and realizes he could be a starter elsewhere in the league. Someone will show him the money and I wouldn't be surprised if he bails. If Landry were starting for this team, he would easily command a $10m+ per year contract on the open market.
Yep, not many people realise it but this offseason we have to make a decision between scola or landry, we can't afford both, they would both fetch over $8 million on the open market.
That is a new thread altogether. Sad to think about, but it might be a good idea to package one of them in a trade...
Well, if u remember before the start of last offseason I started a thread about starting brooks and landry. I don't think it will happen because its not like scola has done anything to lose his spot. My biggest worry about scola is the wear down from playing yr round. He plays with so much effort that everything he does seem like a fight. I've said he's A.C Green and I've had arguments over that one. To me, minus the complexion, that who I think about when comparing scola to someone. This summer, a team might think that's close enough and offer him more than the mle or a contract starting at 6.5m. Personally, I don't think the rox are close enough to offer or match that amount for a 30 yr old guy like scola.
He does, but he won't be recognized by the majority of people because: 1) He's still coming off the bench. 2) Rockets get no national coverage, so not many people will realize how good Landry actually is.
Millsap is a better player than Landry and the only way for him to get a 10 million a year contract was because that contract was frontloaded. I don't think Landry will command 10 millions.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/paul_millsap/index.html Millsap is the better rebounder. No doubt about that. The better scorer? No. Just no.
Carl has looked like a complete stud this year... 27-9 in 30 minutes. His efficiency has not gone down with increased minutes...
he makes some piss poor decisions on when to foul today and for the past few games too. his offense is at an all star level, but his defense and his iq as far as not fouling is just crap.
Milsap is not better than Landry in any way shape or form... Please pay better attention to the games.
it means the dude fouled nash twice late in teh 4th quarter. It means that was a 4 point swing b/c he was too aggressive and didn't use his brain. Plus he is often out of position on defense.
Landry kept us in this game... He actually stopped Nash on the baseline... that was a bad call... we should have kept feeding Landry instead of having Ariza and Brooks hump the ball at the top of the key. AndersOn's weak a$$ and Battier's ineptitude kept us from winning the game.
