Things I will be happy about for this year comparing with last year 1) Less dribble, more passing. No clown azz skids from pg. No endless dribbling till 16 seconds into the shot clock 2) Makes the playoff ahead of Utah and Denver 3) Improvements from Yao 4) Tmac mesh with Yao and team 5) Hold the opposing team's least point scored at the end of season 6) Have character installed for this team We are not going be like Dallas or Kings offense-wise. Pat Riley's style never is. If this group can find its identity this year, like the mid 90s Knick, I will be really glad.
p -- i hear ya. but it's the pre-freaking-season!!! do you think these guys are out there struggling to win?? really playing at 100%?? hell, in the NBA, most of the players aren't giving it 100% on normal regular season games. these are games where they're trying things out...getting to know each other...learning each other's games. it does not surprise me even a little bit that they're struggling offensively at this point.
There's a difference between playing with a sense of urgency and developing chemistry. Playing with a sense of urgency doesn't necessarily help chemistry.
Other teams with comparable PPG then the Rockets include the Spurs, Pistons, Bucks, Kings, TrailBlazers, Minnesota and Utah. So are all of those teams in bad shape? Heck, if you want to take the preseason thing even further, then Philly, Cleveland, Orlando, Phoenix and Memphis should be pencilled in for division titles. Using the preseason stats and standings, here is this year's playoffs: East: 1.) Orlando 2.) Miami 3.) Washington 4.) Charlotte 5.) Atlanta 6.) Cleveland 7.) Philadelphia 8.) Indiana West: 1.) Denver 2.) Memphis 3.) Portland 4.) Minnesota 5.) Utah 6.) San Antonio 7.) Houston 8.) New Orleans The preseason, stats, standings, everything, means nothing. As long as we can get guys on the same page and reasonably healthy, I'll be happy with the preseason.
based on the preseason i think the sky is falling and the rockets at this pace will finish in last place. OMG!!! THIS IS HORRRRRRRIBLE!!!! TRADE SOMEONE NOW!!!!!!!!!
Well, people have high expectations for this season after the TMac trade, and the Rockets did not play particularly well in the preseason. So a bit of criticism is understandable. However, I personally do find threads like "this is JVG and Ewing's last season" and "compare SF, CM, and TMac's preseason stats" rather pointless. I will hold my judgement until I watch team for a month or two of regular season play.
what happned to the offensive firepower?????? If they don't get this togeather, then all iam gonna say is I told you so ,but really I hope i don't have to say that.everybody think we are a lock at 4 to make the playoffs, but I have always thought looking on papper we want even make the playoffs, west is so tough.
If this is suppose to be "preseason", then why didn't JVG keep Yao on the bench in Laredo after his injury?? JVG ain't no surgeon! How does he know if the inury is serious or not?? Yao had to go get an MRI! JVG risked another more serious injury to Yao by putting him back into a meaningless preseason game. That to me makes no sense!
When one lacks the mental capacity to deduce beyond what is immediately infront of him, I'm surprised anything makes sense to you.
That thing called *PRESEASON* is immediately in-front of many here. They will change their opinions when a few wins catch their attention; shiny objects. Lets see how well the Rockets play a 10 game schedule(s) on the first part of the season, and then compare it to the second part of the season... 5-5? 3-7? 7-3? 8-2? What will be our trend? How many will be calling for the coaches head if we start the season bad, but end strong?
Our big three Yao,T-Mac and Howard are averaging just 27 minutes a game. I don't see the minutes are significant enough to make a big deal out of it. Plus, our scores are dragged down by the 72 points Orlando game, in which T-Mac didn't play, and the 69 points Spurs game, in which Yao was injured. The Rockets averaged 89.6 points in the other 5 preseason games. Situational reasons are what bothered the Rockets offense. The Orlando gangs can save their firepowders until the real season begins.
And if they do get it together, then what? Are you going to say "I'm wrong" then? Also, I hate to be a spelling nazi, but please at least check what you are writing for the correct spelling.
Nice summary. The key is get TMac buying into team first and playing with control. I've already seen that in preseason. I wish our fans have patient with this new team. Though TMAC didn't performed at his best, I've enjoyed watch him play. His shoting, passing, driving and steal looked so natual and effortless, definitely natural talent hard to find. I just hope he and Yao can mesh together, then Rockets is the beam to beat.
Chemistry takes time not a couple preseason games in China and then Yao's out a game ........and Tmac's out vs Orlando and i'm sorry but franchise and cat played with passion against the Rockets....and it wasn't a REAL game.... and Tmac wasn't in there......WE WILL BE A FORCE IN THE WEST!!!!!!
