I'm sure those other teams are testing out different line-ups also. The Rockets are LAST this pre-season in scoring.

Those Rocket teams didn't have a problem scoring. Tracy is playing with a Yao Ming in his third season. Yao is playing with the NBA scoring champ. Both of these guys have great basketball instincts, no one is complaining about wins and losses, just the ragged nature of the offense.

you mean the two players that have both missed at least one a piece of these preseason games??

this team is playing with zero urgency. zero. it's preseason.

    and what does that mean???

    absolutely nothing, as of yet.

again...this is a preseason for a brand new team. i don't think we're going to see mcgrady playing in the regular season as he's been in the preseason.

give it time. geez...i don't think i've ever seen people so concerned over the flipping preseason before.

The way I see it is like this: we all get that sick feeling in the stomach whenever we see how difficult it is for the Rockets to score, while it just seems so easy for the other team to score. It's preseason, but we're all familiar with that feeling...so I can totaly understand every negative person's frustation. Getting T-Mac was supposed to solve our scoring inability, but T-Mac's had a couple of mediocre nights in a row, so take it or leave it, we'll just have what are team will be like, and the next five or so real season game will tell us...

"If we can't a preaseason game, we can't a preaseason game. If we lose, we lose. It's not about that. It's easy to sum it up when you talk about preaseason. We're suppose to be a championship caliber team and we're in here talking about preaseason. Not a regular season game -- we're talking about preaseason. How silly is that? I know we're suppose to win, I know we're suppose to set a tone for the regular season, We know that. We're not shoving it aside. I know it's important, but we're talking about preaseason."

A slightly skewed quote from Allen Iverson.

hell i'm just glad it's BasketBall Season!

It is just the pre-season but isn't this the time where you're supposed the fine tune how you're going to play for the season? You can't just say oh well we'll just show up in Detroit and turn it on and win...it's not that simple. I agree that it's going to take time to build chemistry and gel. Last season, the ROckets were horrible offensively for the first 25-30 games and it was ugly but the scoring the did improve as the season progressed and the defense was consistently good. It will take time but I think what everyone is worried about is the fact that JVG is so stubborn and unwilling to sacrifice his "system" to adopt to the strengths of his players...last season was a perfect example, he wanted Steve to be J. Stockton which is just not possible. Why not use your strengths to an advantage rather than limit it in order to stay true to your system? Being disciplined and smart is important but let your players use their skills not try to change them into something they aren't. If they don't go past the 1st round, his job will be on the line and his system will be heading to an analyst position on TNT. I don't know what the solution is as I don't claim to be an expert but its plain to see that JVG should be defensive player of the year for the way he is able to shut down scorers. Let's just hope T-Mac is able to adjust and be as dominant as he was in Orlando but bring W's with him and Yao becomes dominant night in, night out. Peace.

So they're playing with zero urgency but they are one of the teams that need the most work because of all the changes?

Not just "on the line." If the Rockets do not win 52 or more games, and go deep (6/7 games) into the second round, JVG must go, no ifs, ands, or buts.

I think there are two kind of sentiments erupting the frustration you described.
First, the ones with hight expectation wanna see Yao and Tmac dominate every game like the Lakers used to be.
Second, the ones that is still bitter about the summer trade with Olando.
There is going to be evolving process for this team. It even took Kobe and Shaq a couple of years to finnally realize it.

come on, p...you're much too smart for that. you've been watching hoops way too long for that.

they haven't put it together yet. they're not going to for a little while. some patience is a good thing. let them play a month or so of games that count before you condemn them. this team is probably not going to win a title this year...they're probably not going to go deep in the playoffs. i hope i'm wrong, but i think they need one more offseason.

i have a sneaking suspicion you want them to fail and Orlando to succeed so you can say, "see...told ya so...and look how good the Magic are!" to all the Steve-hatahs, and people like me who just felt change was a good idea. am i wrong?

So let's bring back Steve and Cat.
Am I going to hear you ranting every time we lose from now on?

Exactly. You want a team to hit its stride late rather than early. We seem to be a lock for the playoffs, lets just mesh and cometogether towards the end of the season. Like that other team from Houston did this year.

I've got feeling that this year will be a good year for us. ;)
Problem exposed in the beginning is not a bad thing at all, not at all. I think we have the right pieces, and that is all it matters.

see, i'm all for optimism...and i want you to stay exactly how you are about them!!! but i'm not sure they have all the right pieces yet. i'm not sure it would take much..but i'm just not sure they fully ready to go towards a ring. that's why i think one more offseason will be huge.

what's funny is how hard the complaints here are about PGs and coaches...and yet also think they should be lights out in the preseason. huh???

How about I just want them to score more than 84 points a game. They’re not in the middle of the pack, they’re not towards the bottom, they’re last. No team with Yao Ming and T-Mac should be last in any offensive category, I don’t care if they just met last night. If I wanted to rag on the trade, there are plenty of things I could bring up. There are a lot of other things wrong with this team that I feel will get corrected over time. But the being last with two of the best offensive players at their position on your team is ridiculous.
