How can you feel this way? Why do you think we are only a 7 or 8 seed? We are only 4 1/2 out of the division lead.

This team is on a roll, didn't get you get excited when the Astros came from nowhere to make the playoffs and then the world series?

This could be the exact same scenario unfolding....get on board baby....CHUGGA CHUGGA CHOO CHOO !!!

Max, don't miss out, it could be special....

I'm always on board. It's not as if I have another team.

max i feel you boss man........this has been a major underacheiving year with the talent we have and thats point blank....period......

i feel good about the last 16 games......but i still feel the same way until i personally see this rocks team turn that virtual corner........which i havent seen as of yet........

whats turning the corner u may ask right????

well for one and a sure thing that i have watched the last 5 ot 6 years with us is the 4th quarter letdowns.......i mean this is the nba so anyone team can get u ona given night....but i dont want it as a given or ritual that it like clockwork we will let down in the 4th quarter.........

once we start closing out games on a reg bases.........and do a 6 or 7 game run where we actaully have that killer instinct when we have a team down

or vice versa......when we are down in the 4th and we make that push and take it to some teams and get some gutsy wins on a streak of 13 then i will totally be on board

i think we pull a 7 or 8 and we are prob still heading for a first round exit becuz no is not gonna keep that spot.......there will be a mavs suns or san antonio there believe that............

I don't know how fans of the team that beat all 50+ win teams in 95 as a SIXTH seed could complain about too many teams making the playoffs

Or a team that went to the finals in the 80s with a record under 500, maybe the MLB should expand the playoffs

NCAA basketball march madness 64 teams>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NCAA football computers pick 2 teams to play

In a game with so few players (5) on the court you must expand the playoff field because if one guy goes down that kills you but if you get in the tourny anything can happen ie. 95 Rockets

    good points....but one thing.....

this is not the 95 rocks team.......its a insult to compare this spineless team at times to those grizzle rock hard vets be had then........

we had superstars that could will us to a win there.........know whats that means....the superstars impose their will on a team and win a game when the rest of the team is playin like crap.......ie how kobe does know with the lakers....

sure they have gasol know....but they had complete scrubs in crucial roles on that team ie parker, ultimate underachiever kwame brown and kobe gives us the business and wills his team to wins

our superstars on the other hand...........

and thats a big reason we are having so much trouble turnin the corner......once tmac plays like the star he is we will go.......teams only go as far as there leaders take them and until mac does it...if he ever does....we are screwed

well.. you know the * in 1995 is that we were the defending champs
and that we had the best Center in the NBA even though he was hurt alot that year in the regular season.

plus we had trades and lots of injuries.

I never felt the Rockets were the underdog cause at full strength and Clyde understanding the offense more, and a 100% Dream, we could beat anyone.

The point is that most of us, me included underestimated the effect of a 33% roster turnover and a brand new coach.

It has taken longer than I thought for the team to come together, BUT...they are doing it now....and fortunatly no one has run off and hid....we are only 4.5 games out of first place and still play that team at least 2 more times.

So not only are the playoffs attainable, but a higher seed is as well.

This season is barely half over, we are undefeated since Tmac came back with a healthy Yao, and have beaten some of the best teams in the league....

I choose to look at the rest of the season as a great big opportunity...

    GO ROCKETS !

its silly to think we won't make the playoffs, our record wasn't that bad before the winning streak.

We were underachieving not overachieving also.
plus new coach, new players etc, takes time.

its not like we lost alot of talent (Juwan)

double d.................please forgive me if u think i am saying i am not happy about the last 16 games and yes we are playing better as of late......not debating this fact

and yes book it rocks will make the playoffs...........that being said heres my dilemna..........

what then....its not about the playoffs and lord forbid we get in at 7 or 8 cuz like i said......trust and believe.....like u believe in jesus....that mavs, suns, and spurs will make the same prophetic run that they do every season as well...............take that as some food for thought........

spurs and popovich are know for coasting in the first half and smashing the gas down the stretch DD so its not gonna be the rocks as the only team on a roll.....NO is not gonna be number one so if thats what u guys are expected to get if we come in at 7 or 8 think again.......mavs or spurs it will be most likely...........poising us for a first round exit again.............

thats reality at its best folks....we had better push and show some real gumshen down the stetch and get a 5 or 6....hell maybe even a 4 if we want a chance......reallistically......

not dealing in fantasy here.........real talk

but there are some posters who think having 6 playoff teams is dumb, how can someone take that stance and call themselves a Rockets fan?

I know we wernt the underdogs but some here if they had it their way would of not had us in the playoffs that year

i'd rather see a premium on regular season games. i'd love to go shorten the regular season schedule. i know it will never happen. but playing 82 games to decide which 16 teams out of 30 get to advance is just silly to me. particularly for the price they charge for regular season tickets. i'd like to see division championships matter...because right now they don't mean a thing.

average Astros ticket 27 bucks 81 games
average Rockets ticket 42 bucks 41 games
average Texans ticket 61 bucks 8 games

    per www.chron.com

    based on importance per game

    football=best value
    basketball=second best
    baseball=third

of course if you don't care than baseball is the best value but if your a fan 1 out of 162 does not equal a great value at 27 bucks but both the Astros and Rockets have good promos

i can get my family of 4 into an astros game for about $20. i don't care about the average price.

importance of each game is not merely a function of how many games are played...when only 1/4th of the teams make the playoffs as opposed to over 1/2, that plays into it as well.

Its gonna be really tough for us to make playoffs, especially after LA stealing Gasol from Memphis, I had lakers as one of the teams we pass on our way to making the playoffs...........and if another team in the 4-8th spot makes a trade before deadline and we dont make any deal, we might as well forget about making 2008 playoffs

For the record dude I don't think you're a schmuck, ok?

The reason I got bent out of shape with you is it's one thing to be objective and compare and contrast the teams strengths and weaknesses and another to just down a team and say "NO CHANCE!" I mean you have to admit they're finally showing tenacity, resolve and a resiliency we definitely never saw with JVG's Rocket coached teams! Unless you're into that jedi mind trick, reverse psychology, anal retentiveness check your feces for fiber crap, you were being unfair in your analysis IMO!

So, which way is it? Are you just being super psychoanalytical and don't want to jinx the Rox or are you not a fan, and are a troll like some say you are! Just asking ...

Even northeast fan has recently shown objectivity and even a tinge bit of optimism. I'm not saying that all the sudden the Rockets are going all the way and yes, there is definite legitimate concern when the Rox have been doing poorly at the charity stripe, when they're STILL turning the ball over like last night vs the T-Pups!

We're not there yet and to be a legitimate playoff juggernaut we have a LONG way to GO!

Good news is though, most of the competition above us has to beat each others brains in this month while we have a GOLDEN opportunity to make up SERIOUS ground in the standings this month.

If they REALLY catch fire, HELL we could be the division leaders by next month but, man that's going to take SOME work!

i definitely don't have to admit this. because it's not true. the white boy power squad team, for example, showed every bit as much tenacity and resolve.

i think this team is getting better...and i hope they're turning the corner.
