Just showed how much natural ability T-Mac had. He had unlimited range on his jumper. He was shooting those threes using his normal release. This was in 2005 when he was still pretty healthy.

T-Mac is/was a beast. He could do everything on the court. He was close to Kobe in scoring, but a way better playmaker. Truly the unselfish superstar, and way better than Harden will ever be IMO.

For some reason...I kind of like it better in the All Star Game when the players where their actual team jerseys, and not some East or West jersey.

TMac is one of my favorite Rockets.

Why do you have to throw in the he will be better than Harden will ever be? Harden is young and you really don't know how good he will be. Hardens ability to get to the basket is something special.

    Sigh... this was so unnecessary.

Tmac in his prime was special, but he never led a team anywhere in his prime that's why its hard for me to anoint him better than Harden will ever be. With health and the team surrounding Harden now, Harden will lead his team farther and have a better chance of winning multiple championships. Something Tmac never did, and looking back, never had a chance of doing.

    One star thread.

McGrady peak TS%: 56% in 03, never topped 53% before or after

Harden TS%: 60% last year, lowest was 55% his rookie year.

Harden has the playmaking ability McGrady has, with a healthy dose of work ethic and efficiency that McGrady never sniffed.

    Don't bite the bait.

This thread is not meant for logical discussion.

Harden is 24 years old and has far more playoff success than McGrady could ever dream of at 34.

Well tmac will never have a ring, and harden could.

    So suck it.

Tmac was a ball stopper and a chucker. This is just an example of it.

On a different note, why was the atmosphere for that All-Star Game so much better than last year's?

Tmac had a higher ceiling than Harden, but Tmac was somewhat of an underachiever and never reached his ceiling.

Also, we don't know what Harden can or will achieve. I don't think Harden will produce the number of points that Tmac did over the course of his career, but I could see him become a more efficient scorer, a better crunch-time player, a better team player, and/or a better defender.

I should make one correction as well. Tmac had several years where he really dominated the ball, but either wasn't physically capable of dominating the game or didn't have the desire to do it. As a result, he would just slow the game down and render his teammates useless. I think Harden is and will always be a better team player. Harden may do it occasionally, but he can put up more points than Tmac while playing better team offense.

Would have been a decent thread without the hater line. Too bad.

Come on Realist.. This comment is far from reality. Harden's prime hasn't even come yet and he is debatably better than McGrady now. Let's give Harden 3-4 years with the Rockets and see where we are before we come to that conclusion.

Harden and T-Mac are both good passers but T-Mac was better in that regard, especially entry passes to Yao and was also saw the court better. He also didn't turn it over nearly as much as Harden when making passes.

One of the biggest myths out there.

He was actually a very selfish player. He wanted everything to run through him. Everything was about him. His ego wouldn't have it otherwise.

It was his selfish nature (on and off the court) and his laziness which led to his conflict with Adelman...and in the overall scheme of things, him being one of the biggest losers this league has ever produced.

A comparison of Harden last season with Tracy's best season as a rocket. Tracy was 25 and Harden was 23.

Rk Player Season Age G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
    1 James Harden 2012-13 23 78 78 38.3 7.5 17.1 .438 2.3 6.2 .368 5.2 10.9 .477 8.6 10.2 .851 0.8 4.1 4.9 5.8 1.8 0.5 3.8 2.3 25.9
    2 Tracy McGrady 2004-05 25 78 78 40.8 9.2 21.3 .431 1.8 5.6 .326 7.3 15.7 .468 5.5 7.1 .774 0.9 5.3 6.2 5.7 1.7 0.7 2.6 2.1 25.7

As you can Harden was better in almost every way except for the turnovers. Considering last season was Harden's first year being the man, I would pick Harden every time.
