Does anyone else believe that our problems is actually at 2 and 4 instead of 1?

Yaotti used to be annoying, but he's actually a good source of comic relief now...

I'm a little sad he gave up his "keep the bbs free from hate" campaign.

Oh, and the rox biggest problems are at the 1 and 4. We have decent enough players to cover the wing positions, and while there's room for improvement there, I don't think it's a vitall need for this team.

Ok, I am out of step here with most. I've been analyzing SF's play for almost five years. I still do, but it doesn't matter, and I'm happy he's had recent good games.

I love seeing him come up big like he did with that Yao follow last night. But if you're talking about us now, SF's obviously not the weakest link - therefore technically the pg position isn't the worst problem.

But I think the overall play of the team is, and though grateful for any win now, I'm not happy beating Toronto at home in OT.

I believe a true pg makes the entire team better, but to be honest the decision must be made in the off-season where you think Yao is then, and where he'll be next year. That evaluation is going to be key to this franchise. At least to whether we contend next year.

Then you can decide if you want a star pg, sg, sf or star pf - and I don't think we even have that latitude until we offer SF up (yeah it's sad).

But all is not doom and gloom at all. JVG may think we can win it all, but if he does I think it's unreasonable for him to believe he can do it with this team - no matter how much Yao improves - and if SF shoots a high fg pctg.

There's still our ball-handling, and our ineptitude running a fast-break. We're just lucky we do have players that we can trade for value and know to look at this team objectively.

I thought that's what most of all the "dump Rudy" threads last season were about. I expect once we clinch a playoff spot JVG starts praising SF, Cat and Cato after every game. Boki getting PT when JJ's fine. And the mix/match possibilities just may draw out possibilities that could surprise us.

Traumatic, yeah for most, including Yao. Especially when we claim to be bring in players based around his game and this is going to have to be his team. Perhaps early, but if we don't do it we run the risk of having a pg that doesn't accentuate Yao's game (even if it reaches max 3-rd year blossom) and risk SF's rep and value further declining.

Props to SF for changing, and his overall guts and his heart. But Yao's improvement magnifies his weaknesses and knocks the lustre off his significant talents.

Who wants to risk that? Not me. That weepy sentimentalist JVG? Well you really think we go after an upgrade at the 2 or 4?

One caveat, I'm a Rox fan. Yao likes the "big lights", and if Steve and Cat rip it up from outside in the playoffs, we could get real serious in a hurry. But if that doesn't happen, Les, CD and JVG I think have to give the average Rocket's fan a message and give the NBA what they're most afraid of happening. A team that knows how to play.

    My offseason wishlist:
    1) sign Rasheed Wallace and Brent Barry
    2) trade Cato to Boston for Mihm and Chucky Atkins
    3) draft a 3 with our 2d round pick (Darious Rice)

    Francis/Atkins
    Mobley/Barry
    JJ/Rice
    Wallace/Mo
    Yao/Mihm

No, I think the problem lies with our quarterback. Our forwards are what they are, but our PG isn't living up to his potential.

Obviously teams aren't just looking to give their young, high upside players away... but you know who I like? Sam Dalembert.

dude just manufactures blocks, solid rebounder. scary hops. i mean he's Cato that costs much less.

I have no idea what his contract situation is. But I'd pay good money for him instead of Cato.

I live in Boston. Mihm is okay, but not great, Atkins... eh. You know they might actually do this trade though. Although Ainge wants to focus on offense. and you know there is a reason that Mihm doesn't start over blount.

your other suggestions would CLEARLY help the team though. and they are well thought out.

I think our 3/4 is are the places needing upgrade for sure.....Jim Jackson has done a great job and is nice, but he is not a true NBA 3...Boki would be prototype with his size, but he lacks any shooting consistency, but that would be the right fit.....

But, our 4 is the sore spot, unfortunately you cannot play cato, weatherspoon, oakly and taylor all at once...Taylor is nice, but not above average....we are not mobile enough....we need a gasol type to match up in the west.....this is where I would spend my energy first....we can get by with Jackson, but take what you can get....

Taylor is more suite for off the bench type stuff...pace changer....Cato is not a 4, weatherspoon is nice to have in a pinch and for some matchups...but we need a night in and night out 16/10 PF...Cat is fine at the 2

yipengzhao - the reason I think that Mihm should be an option for this team is that Cato has to go, but who then spells Yao when he has to sit for 20+ mins a game? Mihm is decent, which is what we need at that backup position. Atkins gives us a pg that can play some D and shoot. For Beantown, dont they want to get more athletic? A Cato/Raef frontline is very good in the east, sort of like a minor league Wallace/Wallace. I dont know if the salaries work, but I would be ecstatic to turn Cato into two pieces that could contribute. Also, imagine a lineup of Yao, Mihm, Wallace, JJ, and Steve what team could match up with that?
