I can't believe some people including wizkid83 think this team is actually improving. Well if you call going 15-21 an improvement... well.....er...nevermind.

There is no system because we have a dumb shooting guard trying to run it. That may be simplistic, but that's my take at this point. I think the Steve experiment is over. He needs to take a lesser role or get traded and we need a real point guard. We have Yao Ming, there's no need to hang onto Steve as our savior anymore.

Seriously, the rocket need to decide which offensive and defensive system they want to play as a team beside ISO offense and ISO defense.

Once, they have decided, they need to stick with it .

A team need to have a consistant system and game plan.:(

I watch, and like the rockets coach who counts how many touches yao gets, i count how many dumb mistakes the rockets make repeatedly that you would NEVER see another team make twice. So far, I don't think i can fit all the mistakes onto one sheet of paper anymore. I need at least two sheets.

My point about not individual players is that it doesn't matter if individual players play bad on the day or not, if they have a good concept of team basketball, they would still be good to watch.

I actually don't believe in system either. Individual talents MAKE the system. I firmly believe that our ISO system (or no system some might say) Rudy run just complement the talents of the team (well the guards actually but for years Franics and Mobley WERE our team and you have to admit that they are better 1-on-1 scorers than passers). I don't believe that Rudy would be so stupid to continue to run that stupid ISO stuff if he somehow had Jason Kidd or all the talented Kings players. He showed it when he complemented a good inside-outside game with Hakeem and all those shooters. Larry Smith I am not sure. After all he run ISO with Yao.

Just a thought - were things solidifying before Rudy went out? It seemed like we had a pretty set rotation, and Larry Smith has now changed it up a little.

To be honest, I didn't see the Nets game tonight (it wasn't on League Pass!?!), but I agree with most everything said so far.

To answer the question - watching the game is like banging my head into a wall over and over and over again. Even when the team wins, they look awful. You can say that winning will cure all ills, but the problem is that I can't imagine the team ever having an impact in the playoffs if they play the way they do now.

Yeah, they won 45 games two years ago, and they may (if they reverse course NOW) approach that number this year, but they inspire no confidence in either the players or the system. They simply look awful.

CLF has a good point (and, in fact, it's mine ;)) - Yao has gone from a Walton-like passing/scoring well-rounded center to... a lethargic guy who looks not like a young Sabonis (which would be awesome) but like Sabonis *now* (which is okay, but not great).

Yeah, you're right about the individual players thing, Newgirl. The Grizzlies have to be one of the most fun teams to watch right now. Overall they suck, but they play very hard and as a team...

The only time this system worked great was during the championship years. After that Rudy's system went on a decline and he hasn't adapted.

Fred Carter on NBA2nite - "They will have to fix the problem next year." - referring to the apparent selfishness and lack of team play by Houston.

I enjoy the Big Mans Game, I detest the three Guard line up. I detest some of the decisions that our Guards make. I wish Maddox and Nachbar got playing time and experience. I wish the team would play team offence and team defence. When the games are so off, like to-nights game, I just want the Coach to stop the game and lay down an ultimatum to his players. They were playing as though the remainder of the season meant NOTHING. I will of course still watch every game, hoping to see a light in the tunnel of our future!

I used to follow every rockets game on tv and on NBA.COM flash when it is not televised. Now I just check the scores at the end of the game. The last game I watched on TV was the last Lakers game and after that, I lost my appetite for Rockets games on TV for a while, especially with Larry Smith coaching.

The NBA is first and foremost an entertainment medium. If a fan is no longer entertained, then he should no longer watch the NBA. As for myself, I haven't been entertained by the Rockets and I will not watch anymore Rockets games.

I agree with everything you say, but it is going to be close to damn impossible to trade Francis thanks to us, foolishly, signing him to that max contract this past summer BEFORE we found out for sure if he really does not want to play the 2.

I was in class last night, so I am glad that I missed the carnage of last night.:(

I do not agree that the problem is 'selfishness'. I believe it is a deeper BB IQ caused, continued, and carried to lower levels by a failure of players and coaches.

This team needs lots to change when they head to training camp: Coaching staff out, JVG in. Players out, Mooch, MoT, (and Rice and Cato to be) packaged with either/both to bring in some fresh talent.

Changes must begin the day the season ends. In eight games, or in 12.

THIS IS THE MOST DISAPPOINTED I HAV EVER BEEN WITH A ROCKETS TEAM:mad:

It's THE SYSTEM AND LACK OF COACHING. RT instilled iso into Steve and Cat and they think their stats are all that matters. They, along with selfish wannabe Moochie, set the tone as they control the flow of the game.

Selfishness breeds more selfishness and lack of trust. And we are in the vortex. I watch the Mavs a lot, plus NBA League pass and nobody, I mean NOBODY, plays like to Rox. We are the laughing stock of the league with our incessant dribbling, lack of sharing the ball, and not running our offense thru Yao.

Don't tell me a team with our athleticism can't play defense. We don't hustle, don't come to play, miss assignments, and make one bonehead mistake after another.

As I've posted many times. THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM. Better get in a veteran turnaround coach (how about Bill Parcells?) to instill some WE into this ME oriented bunch.

I love the Rockets but they are maddending to watch. What a waste of talent.

Les, figure it out before it's too late.

i do enjoy watching the rockets play.

by the way, how is it it is "selfish guard play" when your center is highest scorer?
just can't figre that one out. also, how are the rox suppose to install a new offense when their big man misses all of training camp?

i am sure the reply would be "well they just should have, or, ummm, the rockets/and/or stevie sucks!"
but i will probably be ignored..

Hmm, let's see...Francis is averaging 21.6 PPG in 73 games, Mobley is averaging 17.9 PPG in 65 games, and Yao is averaging 13.6 PPG in 74 games.

So, are you saying that Francis is the center of this team?

So, in essence your post makes no sense here, so yea, I think you will be ignored.
