I think steve gave up on the assists after Cato missed two alley oops. That could have been an easy extra four points, not that it would have won the game, but basketball is played with momentum as a factor. Other than that, I think we are still shaking off rust.
Is that a written rule that you have to wait at least 3 years before you could trust your teammates and pass the damn ball. May be Jordan could have even more rings if he had started trusting his teammates earlier.
Yep. Too add to that, Francis' baskets seem to be solely on isos, meaning that his teammates don't really get the touches to be able to get into the flow of the game. When Francis isn't in the flow of the game, then the other 4 guys on the court won't be either. On top of that, Francis holds onto the ball for way too long, which makes the shot clock a factor on every other possesion, meaning we end up settling for a bad shot.
Just an interesting fact: The Rockets are 16-9, dating back to 99-00, when Steve Francis scores 30 points or more. That includes the Indiana game.
I think it was three years ago I was at the Summit watching a crappy Detroit team get beaten by a mediocre Houston team. Stackhouse put the ball up about every time he touched it. The more points he made, the less chance Detroit had to win. In the end he was throwing up garbage one on five. Stack finished with 40 points and the Pistons never really had a chance. Two years later Stack is playing team ball and they go deep into the playoffs. Thats the lesson I want Steve to get. He is a huge talent. But one on five just will not get it done.
Bingo! We must move Francis to shooting guard! I would imagine the gauge for a REAL POINT guard is a line like this:" The Rockets are 16-9, dating back to 99-00, when Steve Francis dishes out 10+ assists. ".
