Thats a pretty stinky move for Stone even to begin with. Offering a 2 yr deal to Oladipo??? Are you nuts Rafael?
They did not "dodge" anything. Does anyone in their right mind believe Oladipo was going to agree to a two year extension in the middle of a shortened season let alone with this franchise? He's going to test free agency and if it is up to him sign a deal with Miami. Now if this franchise offers him a longer contract at near max dollars this summer and he declines then you can say they dodged a bullet. I cannot think of a worse team in the league when you factor in ownership, coaching and roster.
TBH, if Oladipo didn't decline the extension, he's not the one getting the worst of that deal. I would've thoroughly enjoyed watching ESPN talk about how Tillman has become the worst owner.
Stone was offering him 20+mil a year to buy time to trade him.. Probably poor offers at the deadline and besides 20+ a year for Oladipo will probably be viewed as good value by other teams
My trust in Stone just deteriorated a bit. Offer an extension to Oladipo? I don't have the details and I don't know what the strategy is, but I think it was Stone's first big mistake.
It also said they haven’t entertained offers for him this is scary, how dumb can we be? Stone! Please don’t do this. It makes me think well offer a full max this off-season
Who the hell offers an extension during a 10 game losing streak?... And who the hell turns down an extension during a 10 game streak?... They're both stupid
If Stonehead offers Dipo a max this summer it really means all his good moves has been flukes so far. Could've easily had Jarrett Allen (22yo) than this bum. I'd pay Allen Dipo contract over Dipo for the same thing 10/10 times. Imagine if we tanked and got Cade, we could've had a team of Cade, KPJ, Martin Jr, Wood (at the 4) and Allen at the 5.
You obviously offer him an extension so that you retain an asset you can flip for something else later? Am I missing something?
I believe in this one that is to say attaching a price tag to dipo before the trade deadline, n letting other teams believe he worth something at least.
