There are several teams that have smaller expiring salaries or even a TPE (Boston) to take in Oladipo. But I doubt they trade him for chicken scraps. They'll want real assets for him. Otherwise, they'd just hold onto him and preserve his Bird rights. They could use those either to re-sign him (for the right price) or possibly even sign-and-trade him for something in the offseason. But yeah, it looks more likely that he'll be dealt this month.
I know your guess is as good as anyone's, but what do you consider a potential deal for Oladipo? Just for curiosity's sake.
i'm sure this has been covered elsewhere in the thread (tl;dr), but the problem for VO is there's no other recent film than his time with the rockets to justify mo' money. who is going to pay him more, two years removed from any consistent high-level play?
And while Dipo's value has dropped precipitously, Simmons' has ROCKETED. Ben Simmons is now ranked #1 for DPOY.
Maybe to Denver for MPJ and Gary Harris (negative value contract)? Maybe to Miami for Herro and Iguodala? Maybe to Boston for a first rounder, some small salaries (Langford or Nesmith?) and a huge TPE?
Harden was traded on Jan 13. It's beginning of March. At max, it'd be 1.5 month. I guess ~ six weeks or less is a 'long time ago'
It's not like Dipo paid his dues at HOU, and a team award someone for their past work here. Does he move merch and tickets? Does he get China TV ratings? What is the appeal? If we go by production / meritocracy. Wouldn't you rather give guys like Tate (1.4m) / Nawaba (1.3 m) a raise? Is Dipo giving us 10x more than those guys.
