Not only that. A Toronto trade would essentially be O'Neal for McGrady. Unless a third team is involved the trade scenarios are very limited. Adding Bargnani to the package is impossible if both teams need to stay under LT.
just trying to run through some of the previous posts of the past 24 hours.... 'outside' = outside the Western Conference (possibly confirmed by bigbodymoe earlier today and could support another clue left - "COLD" the actual McGrady quote is below: Is Doc saying that McGrady is saying that he's injured so that when he returns to form (here or elsewhere) he'll get another huge deal... so he would get the last laugh. If I let my mind wander a little bit, I could envision a scenario where McGrady is "dogging" it in the games (i.e. being a jake) in an effort to force the Rockets' hands to move him. To DD's point about T-Mac needing to be T-Mac to be effective. Is he incapable of being a cog (see Toronto Raptors days when he left to escape VC's shadow)? This would also lend heavy credence to the "integrity to his POV" statement at the end of Doc's post. If Mac really believes that he's at his best when he's running things, he might do anything in his power, even if it's destructive, to force it. What I can't get is why an East Coast team, gearing up to make a run at the big boys in 2010, would want to trade for McGrady, and extend him , if they could just wait it out another 16 months? Maybe that's the fallacy in McGrady's thinking? Or maybe he feels that if he gets traded and turns it on, the team will reward him with an extension and let the 2010 players go to find their fortunes elsewhere....
Compare O'Neal's attitude about lackluster play to McGrady's: http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/547522
unfortunately O'Neal's knee problems are real, unlike TMacs. do you trade a player with a good knee and no heart for a player with a bad knee and heart? hmmmm.... I'd go for someone else on another team
at this point, i think most serious rockets (note I am referring to fans of the team, not of individual players) fans are tired of mcgrady. for the amount of talent that's on this team i am surprisingly apathetic about this season, and i'm the sort of person that watched or listened to almost every game of every season since 91. even just last year, each loss stung. now i just shrug my shoulders and hope its another step closer to a major shakeup. i just feel like tracy's defeatist, exhibitionist, primadonna attitude is not something i can buy into as a fan. i dont want to root for a guy who is only interested in himself, or finding excuses, or talking about what he did. i'll start caring about the rockets more when either the wizard of oz finds tracy some new internal organs (heart, brain, courage) or they trade him. on another topic, there are a few insiders out there for the fan that's willing to do some legwork. note that i got drilled for my views on the francis situation, and look how it played out. now, i thought he would have some value to the rockets as an exiring, but i guess the deke situation forced their hand. . .
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4909715 Hayes, Head, and TMac for O'Neil and Bargnani works... http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4909784 As does Hayes, Head, and TMac for Hamilton and Rasheed... Just sayin'...
I think a lot of you are misinterpreting the Doc Rocket clue.. his first post, the one with "I digress, and go BACK etc..." gave me doubts but he could've just been saying it without meaning a clue.. now, after he mentioned Mac's "sit BACK" and "bounce BACK" (or whatever that word was), this essentially gave it out: Tmac will be traded BACK to somewhere, meaning he had played there before, which limits the possibilities to these teams: North Carolina (Charlotte) Toronto Orlando then Doc goes on to mention the "cold" weather, which clearly takes Orlando out of the discussion (as if it was possible in the first place: LOL at the thought of McGrady playing there again), so now we can narrow it down to these scenarios: 1. Mac + Rafer/Head For Gerald Wallace/Okafor + Felton 2. Mac for J.O/Bargnani the fillers/extra players might differ, but this is what I see would go down
Hayes, Head, and TMac for O'Neil and Bargnani puts the Rockets over LT by a few million. I don't think Hamilton and Rasheed are with the Raptors
Saying "southern part of North America" also seems to imply that the destination is outside of the United States, leaving Toronto as the only one that fits all clues.
I think it'll be Grady for Arenas. They had enough of Arenas over there , and all he has to do here is just shoot the perimeter shot. I'd rather have C. Butler 20ppg than him but he is only getting about $10mill/ year. Wiz will have 3 good players if Grady plays right C. Butler Jamison Grady
I think it ought to be a rule that before anyone posts any trade scenario they need to test it at RealGM. The near impossibility of moving a max contract will rule out about 90% of the wild ass guessing. You also should have to post the reasoning behind the trading partner's motivation for doing the deal. Why would someone want to bring a obviously troubled Tmac on to their team? This thread has a weird dejavu feel to the end of Olajawon's tenure in Houston doesn't it?
I know. I kinda figured that you might be able to figure out that I was talking about the Pistons since there isn't another Rasheed in the NBA. http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4909802 TMac for Heinrich and Nocioni also works...
Charlotte would make sense, because they need a big name/legit superstar to start bringing crowds into their arena. If it's Toronto, then I hope we can get Calderon out of it.
Marquee value really only works for preseason sales. Once you get into the season, only winning brings extra crowds. As long as this lovers spat has loosened tongues past the point of discretion, Popeye was Rudy, wasn't it?
